I was able to use the CT's internet connection to watch a football game and send text messages (I think). I used the browser app to check the company email. It is not like having a phone, but it worked well.

Q: is there a rumor about tethering your phone to CT or has anyone pull this off?

Tesla uses AT&T, so I assume that your phone is using another carrier.

You can tether the truck to your phone, but you can't tether your phone to the truck. Been that way probably for over 10 years.

I’ve done that so many times. There is a shortcut to YouTube TV thru the native YouTube app in settings then subscriptions. You can literally watch anything streaming on YouTube TV in the truck on its internet & the LTE (kind of surprised the CT didn’t get a 5G modem) in the truck is usually always working.

I wish any Tesla would offer a hotspot option.
My phone is Verizon and I get reception pretty much everywhere. I am surprised to find out that ct uses ATT. I thought it was starlink satellite.

It would be cool if Tesla could distribute the Internet to other devices, because sometimes you really want to watch a football match, but you just don’t have the opportunity. Especially when traveling or camping, where the connection can be weak or completely absent. At such moments, I just read articles. Last time I read on https://www.sportbuzzbusiness.fr/jeux-de-hasard-sur-le-theme-du-sport.html Vinsky’s interview. But I was really interested. Although the page loaded slowly due to a weak Internet connection. I hope that in the future they will add such a function.
The only workaround is to use Tesla's built-in browser to access instant messaging and websites. But there's no full-fledged tethering for phones yet.

It will be a little while, but we will eventually get the option of a small, fixed starlink terminal.

I feel like it might come sooner rather than later.. even next year would be doable

Tethering the phone to the truck isn’t live yet, but people have had mixed luck using third‑party hotspots as a workaround. For game days, I’ve leaned on rubiscore.com since it loads fast even on weak connections, so the truck’s signal handles it fine. If the feature drops in a future update, it’ll probably slide into the Wi‑Fi menu with the other network toggles.
