I run both my Model S and Cybertruck as Luxury Limo's in Colorado. I have done this for 10 years. The #1 reaction is curiosity- all the standard questions. The difference with the CT is that I get kids 14 and younger dropping jaws and going gaga over the Cybertruck- Their parents walk up to me and ask if the kids can have a look- I give them the full tour. One mom booked a ride for her son and 2 friends as a surprise- they were on the back screen and taking selfies the whole time.

Most of my passengers get wide eye'd and say "I'm riding in the future!" or "The future is here!"

For passengers who ask "What about Elon?" I reply "The problem is; it's a really great truck." I then go into full this is *why* it's a great truck....

I'd say about 1 single finger salute to every 12 goats. Whatever the reaction- they all still want a ride in it.

Colorado- the Purple part- 1/3 Red, 1/3 Blue, 1/3 Indie.
How many goats ? we talking total? I may have follow up questions.

I just told you?‍♂. it’s right in my comment. It’s like right in the middle. It’s like the middle sentence.
Sorry, don’t see it. The fact that some CEO long ago was aligned with a bad party has no impact on buying decisions now. There is no way to “protest” and impact that CEO behavior anymore. Maybe if there would have been een internet, and people would be instantly aware of everything, they would have protested, who knows?
Now with a current CEO doing this, yes, he will notice the protest. So people protest.

I don‘t see any hypocrisy in that.

Spent 1 day in Santa Fe, NM and got:
  • 1 thumbs down
  • 1 middle finger
  • Coal rolled
  • An old guy in a tricked-out custom trike pretended to spit on my CT repeatedly while we were stopped next to each other at a red light on Cerrillos Rd.

On the plus side, sentry mode picked up some kids gawking at it, taking photos, and rubbing their greasy fingers all over it.

So today, I drove from Utah to Colorado… 2 people flashed me. No cops. No wildlife. No middle fingers. Not sure what that flash means… support or “I hate you”. Would be interested in what others have seen or think.

Lastly for about 70 miles I had some Toyota-Subaru looking vehicle do everything they could to keep up with me… let’s say they struggled… but tried to pass everyone I did. Even when I lost them in a cloud of 5-6 cars including semis, they seemed to do what they could to catch me. I was wondering wtf. They never gave me a middle finger or a nod… very weird. Maybe they were chasing the rabbit (I do use a Uniden R7). All of this CT hate is making me paranoid.

I agree with you!! Same here I’m feeling like a horse with the blinders ? I just want to drive looking straight ahead ?

Yeah, had never gotten flashed headlights other than speed trap warnings until this week. But this week I had three different oncoming cars flash their headlights. First two times I assumed it was positive but didn't know. Yesterday I was flashed again and this time the female driver clearly gave me a big thumbs up as I drove by. So, it seems to be a positive signal.
I also got another demonstrative thumbs-up from a guy in a Ram pulling out of Dunkin's this week. Definitely seems like a lot of normal Americans are turned off by the irrational vandalism and vitriol and showing solidarity.
Takedown movement may have jumped the shark. This weekend should be their last hurrah as they don't have much planned beyond March. They'll take a victory lap when the Model Y retooling causes a Q1 sales decline and then go on to some other way to make their world a better place. ?

Maine is peculiar. And Tucker Carlson although a conservative of sorts, has big connections with Maine, and did a video on the Cybertruck that took him from being a general EV skeptic to being rather impressed, as was the local guy he got for regular folk opinions, give or take some doubt about how well it would do in winter.

Vermont is peculiar too, far left (socialist Senator) yet except for Burlington, no permit needed to carry a weapon. As such, if Vermont was less of a hater state than its blueness might predict, that wouldn't surprise me.

They're both rather rural and both maybe leaning toward the idea that if something is practical for someone, that's what counts. Pragmatism over ideology?

I live in dollars for him t Southern Maine we don’t like Tucker Carlson. No one is impressed with him.

Did the original poster, Shoeless, keep an updated tally of all states mentioned?

I sometimes wonder what some of the posters of “hate” do with their truck? In particular if I read how often is happens. Maybe I am just lucky to live in the area that I live, and the roads that I travel, but I don’t see any ”hate”. Very early on (September last year) a few thumbs down and a few hands before the eyes. After that one finger, few weeks ago. Travelled from the BayArea to Davis, Fresno, LA, and daily commute in SanJose, Saturdays shopping at Costco and assorted stores. When I drive it is mostly on FSD, so I look more or less ahead, don’t peek into all cars on the road to see if someone is offending me, but I should have noticed, right? When I park and people are around I get a few stares at the car, and sometimes a smile, but no hate speech, or negative reactions. Maybe there are just too many here (today mine plus three others in the Costco lot) that even protesters don’t care anymore?

A very strange thing just happened. We were on the way back home from our local drive-thru coffee place and a guy in an oncoming Subaru rolled down his window, stuck his hand out, and gave us a big thumbs up. You never know what to expect these days.

Might have felt guilty over all the other Subaru drivers that are jerks. :)
