OUCH!

Grew up in Hennepin Co, looks like I'm moving to Wright Co when I come back ?

Its been a few years, but I do remember that Hennepin has some of the highest fees/taxes in the state

The entire state is bad. When I was there I called it the land of 10,000 taxes (instead of lakes). Factor in the 2 seasons you have of winter and road construction, and I couldn't wait to do my time and get paroled. Only thing I miss from that state is the Boundary Waters.

Are you certain about that? I always thought that California registration is tied to the cost of the vehicle and depreciated value. The registration fee goes down every year.
CA adds an EV fee beginning in the 2nd year that is meant to help with road funding (and because we're not buying gas where gas cars pay their road tax money).

CA does charge for the value of the vehicle but there is an additional charge for commercial vehicles. A camper added to the truck can get the truck classified as a non-commercial vehicle.

My beast in CA was just renewed at $1406 (personalized plate and 2nd year EV fee added in but not broken down on the invoice). Not cheap to own the CT in CA....

Great songs! Hope you get those CTs soon!
I had a chat with Nick @Tesla last week ...he showed me pics of the stand at the Motor Show with 300 people in a queue that zig-zagged to get close to the CT ........
He tells me it was the BIGGEST attraction in that Building over the weekend in Melbourne. They are evaluating bringing the truck into Australia. ?

Btw....... Here's one l co-wrote:

Hope you like it 'Barry'

I’d be so pissed. We pay about $75 in TX and it doesn’t matter what the vehicle is. I probably wouldn’t bother with an expensive vehicle if I lived in one of these places.

On the flip side, our property taxes are high in Texas. So that affects the house purchase decision. there was a time when the combined value of our vehicles was 2/3 the value of our home. Vehicle registration paid $225. Prop tax paid for the house $9k.
i think you missed the annual $200 electric vehicle fee since last year.

Did you have to pay it? I haven't seen it here yet, but I haven't owned this or my prior Lightining for longer than a year. Maybe it will get billed upon renewal later this year.

Just barely got mine in Utah. $416. Not as much as CA but still that’s the most out of any of my vehicles by at least double. Why?

BEVs are minority and get picked on for taxing. I wonder if hybrid’s are taxed the same. I would be interesting how the plug in large battery hybrids will be separated from regular hybrids. Typical politician laws without research. Next they will run on fixing this problem and ask them to re-elect or vote for them.,,

This week, I received my 2025 Kentucky vehicle registration with the assessed fair market value of my Beast set at $132,200! This assessment was as of 1/1/25. Upon doing some investigation before heading down to see the Property Valuation Assessor in my county, I discovered that Kentucky uses NADA valuations - that's another name for J. D. Power. My belief is that J D Power and Tesla are not friendly companies and J D Power would have absolutely no incentive to accurately value this vehicle - perhaps just the opposite. Someone tell me I'm wrong, if I am.

Current fair market value for the 2024 Cyberbeast is actually in the neighborhood of high 70's to low 90's in this area but might have been more at the beginning of the year. I don't like that the state uses beginning of year values for tax bills sent in May - there is no way an individual can get back to 1/1/25 valuations by the time the tax bill arrives so the individual is hosed from the beginning. I know a couple of whales paid an amount in the quarter million range to jump line and get the Beast during 2024 so maybe that has had some effect on this ridiculous tax valuation.

PVA helped by taking what I actually paid for it and adjusting that amount down by 10% to give me a valuation closer to reality. The Beast was still valued at $110,012. I was told the chance of finding a responsible party in state government to reevaluate was next to impossible but I'm thinking I'm going to give it a try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained but, in my mind, the error in assessed value lies with NADA/J D Power.

Is it worth the effort to attempt to get change on the state level or do I just accept it and fight the battle every year when KY property taxes are due up until NADA/JD Power gets the assessment right? Without getting political, I have to say this is one of those frustrating government issues where they can hide behind the inherent bureaucracy of the state.
