The issue is the people moving to other brands means less dollars for Tesla. Less dollars for Tesla means less R&D, which ultimately leads to inferior products. The sad part is none of it needed to happen. Even if you agree with Musk's politics, it was a poor move for the company. DOGE could've been led by some unknown person and achieved the same outcome, why destroy a brand to get there?Meh.. all the democrats that championed EM bailed.. politics does that to people. People that care too much about politics will flip their opinions based on what is in en vogue with their stated party. Happens in both sides equally… For the rest of us… Tesla and SpaceX will continue to make far and away the best products (FSD, reusable rockets, etc) that no competitor is even close to touching.. but those that think less of Tesla and SpaceX can go invest and buy Honda prologues and champion Blue Origin.. that’s everyone’s right to choose inferior products for what they believe. No qualms about it nor any disagreement. Not how I roll, but a CEOs political opinions don’t sway me like others. To each their own
Figure AI is ahead of Tesla currently, but none (no...not even Optimus) are really ready for prime time.Which competitor to Optimus should we look at?
Agree.. the sad reality and even Elon has mentioned this, is that most companies build lesser EVs than Tesla, or if they are decent, the are money sucks that cost the company more.. competition is good! If a car company can make a car better than Tesla as an EV, then great! We should be hoping for that. Quite honestly, China is figuring it out and it will be fun to watch people call china the good guys over Musk and America.. lol.The issue is the people moving to other brands means less dollars for Tesla. I buy Tesla because they are the best EV available in the U.S. If another company starts making the best EV available in thr U.S., I will buy that. Any purchase I make over $80k isn't going towards a political belief, it is for a superior product.
I also was going to be a day one Optimus buyer. Now I will be shopping the competition, just like I got my eye on a Lyriq V.
I'll answer the question when Optimus is being delivered. If true FSD isn't ready yet, why am I supposed to believe in the Optimus time line?Which competitor to Optimus should we look at?
I would be right there with you on that grudge if I had been similarly situated. Fortunately I’ve gotten lucky with FSD only paid $7000 on my MY and M3P and was able to transfer that to my MX and MSP and of course it came as part of our package on the CB.I'll answer the question when Optimus is being delivered. My FS CT order is not full of regret, I am happy with the product and the depreciation was expected. However, I bought $15k FSD on my Model 3 in 2021 and that is why I hold a Tesla grudge. I now know not to trust what the company says, but that's a weird position to be in as a buyer. When I buy a TV, phone, other vehicle; all related products (tech or auto), they do what is promised. Only Tesla doesn’t, and this specific fib cost me almost $10k in 2025 money. It was enough for me to buy a Ford Lightning and not a Tesla as my follow-up vehicle.
No he has not. You don't broaden your base by turning off the people most inclined to buy your products and losing them as customers. At best he's gained as many as he's lost, but since the people he's appealing to now are less likely to be interested in the products to begin with it's probably a net loss. As has been mentioned repeatedly you want to grow a customer base by keeping existing customers happy while adding new ones. This is business 101.Elon was always polarizing - he is now actually less so with respect to Tesla because he has broadened the base of people who would consider buying one.
Utterly nonsensical take with zero real reason to believe any of that hyperbolic scenarios will play out. Maybe it's in the cards for you to just sell everything Tesla and buy the better alternatives out there you can find. Where the grass is greener.I can only speak for myself: I no longer consider Elon to be a reliable partner. I went from definitely planning to be the first person with an Optimus in my home, to not trusting that I won’t end up with some creepy little partisan troll-bot “glitching” and preaching EMs politics in my living room.
then sell your positions and your vehicles ?After 10 years of driving nothing but Tesla, waving the flag at car shows, providing test drives, I too am essentially done with the company.
Literally already happened with Grok. Are you not aware?Utterly nonsensical take with zero real reason to believe any of that hyperbolic scenarios will play out.
And I like Tesla having a CEO that isn't afraid to tell people "f*** you" when they are caught lying and manipulating others. No he has not.
