Has anyone found an excellent mounting location for their CB / GRMS radio?
(I didn’t want to reinvent the wheel if anyone already worked this out. But, I didn’t see any posts on here.)

I just mounted a scanner under my center screen last weekend. I didn't need to drill any holes, so it's easily removable. I used about $10 worth of a $20 set of brackets. I'm happy with the way it just floats there. Thinking of doing a write-up or video if there's interest.

I for one am curious to see what you used and what you did.

It's been discussed in a few threads here with good photos, but I'm not finding the threads using my phone...

I bought a Foronetry underscreen shelf because it uses a buckle to hold it in place. Other shelves use magnets and less robust clips. It supports the removable face for my dual band FT-8800R.

I have a simple computer style 30 amp switching supply sitting in the bottom of the console, plugged into the 120 Volt outlet inside. The radio body sits on the tray immediately under the console lid.

Antenna is mounted on the frunk lip. Coax is routed through the grommet in the front edge door jamb. That piece of structural steel has another hole on the inside, down a couple of inches. That gets the coax into the space above you feet, inside the dash. Route it where you want from there.

That’s the detail I was looking for. Thanks!
I reached out to one of the manufacturers of the under screen shelves and they advised NOT to use it as an anchor as the radios are too heavy. (Which is good of them to share.)
I have one of front lower center consol (under screen) organizers and I will probably utilize that area some how.

This is the one I have:

https://www.amazon.ca/Foronetry-Anti-Slip-Compatible-Cybertruck-Accessories/dp/B0DHC4YL1M

It's fine for the face of the radio by itself. I'm not sure how it would manage s heavier complete radio. I intend to cut a piece of thin metal to sit under the silicone pad they include, with bevelled holes matching the radio bracket. That would spread the load across the shelf. However, space between the truck's screen and console is actually pretty tight, so setting the exact location of a radio to ensure screen visibility and control accessibility would be important.

Using a floor accessory compartment would certainly solve the weight issue, but seeing and controlling the radio might challenging? Depends on exactly what radio you have I guess.

True.
The Mindland 50 watt I will be using is about 4lbs with bracket. Since I don’t plan on changing the radio settings once setup is complete for each journey, the location isn’t too much of a concern for my situation.

Can you provide more details on how you mounted it. This looks great and is exactly how I want to mount mine.

I'll see what I can put together this weekend. Stay tuned!
