So I recently got a relatively new Tesla X as a loaner car. Crazily impressed by the automatic door opening and automatic door closing. I didn't think there was anything beside an extended battery I'd like to see in my cybertruck but auto doors are the bomb.

Weight, complexity, reliability. In addition, while the auto closing and presenting feature is really premium and easy to get used to (I know exactly how you feel -it’s probably the only thing I like about my wife’s X), it just doesn’t fit the core concept of the CT.

All true but the power doors even if not falconwing on the Cybertruck would be awesome.
We have both an x and a truck and invariably we choose the x for moving people and the truck for moving stuff.
School pickups and drop-offs are SO much easier with screen control of every aperture in the car.
I will say, we put a power frunk kit in the x. Glaring omission.

I’m actually just about due for tires on the x because we use it so much. Anyone got a good recommendation or just go with whatever Tesla equips it with?

Falcon doors are nice but that's not what I was talking about strictly the fact that the doors open when you get to the car and close when you get in it.

And just the sheer variety of ways to operate it. App, touchscreen, door handles, brake pedal honestly, it feels like a superpower!

And more importantly, close from wide open without leaving the drivers seat.
An Uber drivers wet dream. lol

Any of you X owners wish for non falcon wing doors in the rain? I had a neighbor get rid of theirs for that reason as there aren’t any gutters or water channels on there. I wouldn’t see it as a big deal, but they sure did.

That’s crazy. They shine in the rain. They act as umbrellas when I’m loading the kids up. I have literally never seen outside water in the car before.
This 2024 is our second x so I’m very used to the doors. We transferred free supercharging to it from our 2016 signature series model x.
We had some good memories in that titanium p90D we called Myrtle and were well on our way to 200k miles, but we couldn’t turn down the transfer offer to a new car last year when they were really hurting for sales.
Believe it or not the part of the x you’d think is most problematic (the doors) mechanically has always been flawless for us. It has some insurmountable sensor quirks when the weather gets really hot which make you need to fully open the door “manually” but they are a bomb proof piece of engineering otherwise. The external “seals” on the top surface of the car get worn down from sun exposure rather fast but it’s purely cosmetic. They don’t actually keep water out.
Our current one is a HW4 car so it’s leaps and bounds better.
Probably shouldn’t say this on COC but in some ways it’s still the best car Tesla makes.
FSD on this ultra red HW4 Model x is light years ahead of my truck in terms of gaining my trust.
Still….we miss Myrtle.
If they ever make an x with drive by wire, 4 wheel steering and a front camera, I’ll be whipping out the checkbook again.
Not really.lol. I’m not even sure I have a checkbook. Who writes checks any more?

Don’t know what my neighbor’s problem was then 🤷‍♂️ They just got a Model Y because they were tired of rain water in their backseat they said.

Have you seen the Luxe Package that’s now included with the S/X? Kinda tempting…

No. I’ll check it out but it would have to be SUPER tempting to give up the free supercharging on this one.
Come on, a minivan and a truck in the driveway both with free gas for life? That took some doing and I can tell you from experience is worth WAY more than people say it is.
