It depends what type of offloading. You want a wide base if you are desert running and need large 35 inch tires to articulate and stay within the fender wells. This is why the raptor and TRX are so wide compared to the regular F150 however, if you are trail running, like a jeep would you would want a narrower vehicle this is why jeeps and G wagons which are not really desert runners are more narrow and better on trails.
