Anyone ever see/do a ppf/vinyl wrap over the tonneau slats? Thoughts on how that might look/work? I'm guessing you'd have to cut between each slat. I asked chatgpt to imagine what I'm looking at.

Basically a shadow version of the American flag . The tonneau cover isn't in the right place but you get the idea

Seems to me if you did this carefully enough slat by slat with high quality ppf, it should be thin enough to be spared much damage from the mechanism but I don’t know that for sure.
you could print almost anything on there if it works.

Me too. And you’d get an actual rear window out of the deal.
And if you have an enclosed bed cap, an actual second floor you could load stuff on or put a mattress on.

I would imagine that if you cut each slat, you’d have more edges that could peel off. What might work is to make a stencil for the flag or image and have it air brushed or acid etched.

In one of the Facebook CyberTruck groups, I saw a picture of a cyber truck with an American flag decal on the tonneau cover. The guy said he had gotten the decal off of Etsy. Cost about 50 bucks.
When he got it, he applied the decal, then cut between each slat and rolled the edges under. It looked pretty good.

So how does one do this without screwing with the tonneau mechanism ?
The slats are metal so you should be able just to put vinyl or PPF on them just as you would any of the other panels. You need to cut between each slat though so essentially each slat wrapped.

That would have no impact on the mechanism. I'm looking for something a a little more subtle not colored. I was thinking essentially like the mat clear PPF on every other slat and then maybe cut out stars. 🤔

If we make it, will you buy it?

I’d buy a tonneau wrap. I’d have to give up the cybertent for a level tonneau but that’s a no-brainer if you have a cap I think
