Might be some airbag stuff up in that area too.
I've wondered about the prudence of mounting a phone on the front ditch vent ... so now in search of an airbag diagram ... owners manual.

I think that airbag comes out of the top of the top dash but when you run a cable from the roof to the passenger footwell which I have done, you have to traverse a rolled up airbag that looks like this in the a-pillar. Not sure how far forward it goes.

I don't know which one you're talking about: my link above is cluttered and uglier?

What about 110 lbs.?

Do you have a link for yours?
This one is the link he posted

And this one is his

110lbs is probably pretty good if you also step in to the car. The bulk of the weight should be on your foot

I guess my single cup is not good enough at only 110 lbs.
Can’t imagine you would ever apply an adults entire weight to it. At least half of that will be on the stepping foot.

So you put your weight on the visor arm basically?

The passenger grabs it to have something to aid in getting up i wouldnt say the whole weight but yes the weight goes on the pivot point of the visor. The item says rated to 220lbs but i dont know what that truly means.

I'll be referencing this diagram next time I rewire ... everything. I run a radar detector and I think I'll drop the power line as far forward as I can manage so as to be clear of that bag. Looks like the starlink mini line will get routed as far rearward as possible (suctioned to skylight, rearward).

Regarding the 'airbag out of the top of the dash' interpretation ... I'm wondering if a handle attached to the far outside of the ditch wouldn't work. Not sure how solid that structure is.

For that (the Starlink) you can just traverse the headliner from the mirror backwards . It just pops down and there is nothing in your way all the way to the speaker grill looking thing at the very front of the roof glass and then around the edge of the glass to wherever you want to put it.
You can also plug into a rear plug or run from the front between the seat and center console then under the rear floormat and up the back or side of the back seat to the glass.
