I understand your point of view. IMHO the suction cups and use of it as a hand grab exert substantially less force on the glass than wind pressure whilst driving down the road. Cheers friend.
You may be correct, but the phrase "not looking sanitary" means that the "uh-uh" factor is greatly increased with the possible culmination resulting in a potential, avoidable disaster. Santa will ponder this modification.

Wind/atmospheric pressure will be felt along the entirety of the surface, additive per square inch whereas the physics of the suction cup grab bar is a much smaller affected area. Consider that suction cups are actually used to install these windshields.

I did the same so that my 91 year old mother-in-law can get in but she still grabs for a "Oh-S*%t" handle that is not on the door's interior, like other trucks, so she grabs onto the cant rail, hard. The other day she reached up and pulled on the Light Bar...my heart skipped a beat. So I am attempting to come up with a solution for passenger door entry...anyone else experience this issue?
Not exactly a solution: my previous ride was a RAM 2500. My wife had a hip replacement and is not as nimble as she once was. More accurately, nimble was never her thing.

Point is: the RAM 2500 was very difficult for her to get in and out of. My youngest joked about considering doing a penguin belly slide to get into the back. To be fair, I had to engineer my own 'move' to get in and out: outside hand on grab bar, inside hand on seat, outside foot on truck floor, jump/step/lunge up and in.

Having watched two sets of running boards salt rot on the previous 1500, didn't want to go there. Considered rock sliders, but didn't pull the trigger.

Entry height in the CT makes her quite happy. The comparison to the 2500 makes it a zero issue.

My concern is that heat and cold eventually have the suction come undone. The temperatures on the window shield - at least here in VA, can vary dramatically through the year. Grabbing something that suddenly releases, IMO, could be far worse. Any issues with that occurring?

(I too have a 5' something wife, and all our trucks, except the CT, have grab handles (and running boards). BTW - where did you get your running boards, and did you install them yourselve?

This bar has little lever tabs that show white until suction is lessened/lost and then the tabs show red. It hasn’t come off so far, but it has only been used in the extreme heat of an Arizona summer so far.

I tell my wife to be visually checking the little lever tabs before use, but knowing her she is going to yank it off one day and then blame me, lol.😆

Originally i bought a leather strap that hangs on the visor found on etsy but the screws are too short and after a few uses the screws come out. I then found another one on amazon which i have been using for 1 month now and i like that the buckle has a locking feature. The only thing i caution is to make sure to re-loop the strap through the buckle correctly or it can come off as attempted by my 75 yo mother who pulled up and then came falling back down, luckily i was behind her to catch her.

So you put your weight on the visor arm basically?
