Anyone else have this going on? It started happening while driving a few weeks ago. I made a service appt on the app, and they estimated $253 (?!). Seems like it ought to be a warranty item, though I'm past the one year mark. (CB, 20k VIN)

Tesla always tells you how much you will have to pay if it’s outside of warranty; then, they throw it out once they confirm the issue and that it’s covered. Just get used to that, it’s SOP. They’re just being transparent.

Yeah, likely so. I'm just not sure if they'd consider the seat a wear and tear item or something.

That definitely seems defective from your video. I’m not sure how you could’ve caused that. Keep us posted, you should be fine.

I had the same rattle but it went away by itself. I dont know how it fixed itself. I suspect that something came unglued when someone sat in the back seat and pressed their knees into the front seat and it glued itself back.

Interesting. Be nice if it fixed itself, but it seems pretty detached. I'll update this thread if I find anything out. I did see a guy on Facebook post the same problem, so maybe they know about it.

Sounds like the adhesive holding the plastic inside the seat has failed

The fix that has worked for me so far is just recline the chair as far as it will go while sitting in the seat. Then return to normal position. Seems to work at least temporarily so far.

Oh, nice. Easy enough to try that, for sure. I'll give it a go. Thanks!

That interior of the inside-seat air ducting is super interesting. I didn't realize you can take them apart like that. Not that I'm about to try it....

Thanks for this tip. I did the full recline, full forward cycle and the rattle has stopped. I think it literally just pulls the seat's skin tighter or something. We'll see how long it lasts, but sure was an easy workaround.

Had the same thing. Its the lumbar support. Deflate it and see if it goes away.

Oh, good call. I could see the lumbar pillow pushing the chair skin out. And I know my wife keeps the lumbar all the way inflated.

any updates on your service ticket? I just noticed this and it’s literally in the exact same location.
