I've seen lots of posts about water leaking into truck bed. I washed mine yesterday and figured it was a good chance to test it before the rainy season. I sprayed a hose all around the roof and the tonneau cover. It's just a regular garden hose, not high pressure washer. Overall, it looked pretty good (though | kept my expectations low). The only issue was a very small amount of water pooling in the right corner of the bed. I know it's not supposed to be completely waterproof, but I'm wondering if this is considered within spec, or should I be looking into ways to seal it up better?

Set up an appointment at a SC for a Tonneau Water Egress Test. We had water in ours from day 1 that they tried on 2 occasions to say was within spec. I told them I had friends who didn’t have any water incursion and asked for a water egress test. They tried to say they didn’t offer that type of test so I kept pushing. After the 1st failed attempt, they miraculously fixed it without even adding another slot cover. It’s been through torrential downpours that lasted hours and has been under 2 feet of snow over night and we don’t get even a drop.

I like it J. Going to use that very maneuver. Are you sure you’re not a lawyer?
Don’t use a tie to hold the foreskin up? (Sorry @dalton108 , that was just classic)

The water you are getting is super normal for a pickup. They weren’t meant to be 100% water proof. Some have sealed them pretty good but that certainly isn’t outside of normal.

Thank you for confirming. It’s good to know.

I so wish I would have gone that route and my wife agrees! Stayed in a holiday inn once and was unbeaten during my speech and debate career if that counts. 😂😂

All the decisions you made led to the person you are now. Would never change that right? Moth fluttering its wings in Thailand and all that. There is no telling what you might have become but it for sure would not be this.

Don't have any water leaking in mine but that would not bother me, my Raptor with Pace Edwards cover was way worse

Did you have to hollow out the inside of the weather stripping as per the video? I note that the link to the product appears to now have a different core to the one in the video. Is that relevant?

Yes! Here is the video i used.

I did this, and yes I had to modify it. Even with the modified seal, the applique was very snug, and took significant effort to reinstall. Maybe that's the point?

I re-used the OEM factory foam strip and it's been water-tight since, almost 18 months ago.

IMO, the OEM solution is a good solution, but it requires the factory worker to place the strip properly. It is then sandwiched in such a way that it doesn't depend upon the adhesive.
