Hey folks - I was very interested in a CT earlier this year, but with all the political nonsense, I got a Model S to avoid being a target for all the misdirected aggression.

I had my wiper ripped off a few weeks ago. But its not a huge concern for me. If I used public parking a lot I would be worried, but I work from home.

If you want a CT I wouldn't let this concern stop you. Just be ready for some middle fingers.

I park in a public transit lot every day. No issues at all. It’s definitely cooled.

Still some crazies out there but it’s far fewer.

Living in TX, I got mostly neck turns and thumbs up when it was fresh. Of course a middle finger/thumbs down here and there but mostly positive. Not many people pay it any mind anymore. Kids still go crazy over it. The hype is very much still alive for them if you’re ever first in line behind a school bus unloading. Even then, I had a kid one time inform me that a Lamborghini was faster lol.

I never saw any issues beside a few middle fingers from people who looked mentally disturbed. Even that is getting as rare as hens teeth these days.

Definitely more positive vibes, even before the deranged people stopped wearing their mental illness on their sleeves..

It’s funny, when all this was happening there were people who would say to me “are you really going to chauffeur your kids around in that thing despite all these public reactions?”Implicitly, what kind of dad are you?
My children watched me tolerate those transient middle fingers for a little while and stick to my guns. In some sense I’m grateful for that because it provided me an opportunity to show them how strong people should behave and that’s a much more powerful lesson than anything I could describe to them.
Now they know through actions not words that you don’t bow down to stupidity and you don’t change your ways to seek approval from others. They also know you don’t respond to hatred with your own hatred because two wrongs genuinely don’t make a right. It gave us real world opportunities to talk about that organically.
Imagine what they would have learned if I yelled at those middle finger wielding assholes chasing them down the street, became obsessed with either hiding from them or persecuting them, sold the Cybertruck and bought a rivian instead?
Which of those would have made me a worse dad?

Out in the countryside last weekend a crazy shouted a vulgarity out the window when they saw me walking from the Cybertruck along with my family including young kids. I shouted back "have a great day!"

Kill them with kindness.

All positive now, particularly from kids but also curious adults. I’d say it’s been positive for maybe 3-4 months or more.

9 months ago was peak negativity.

I’m assuming the NPC‘s have been programmed hate on something else, or the truck has become so common and normalized they had to just give up.

Every time I go out, I see at least a few of these things. I can imagine being one of these people and every five minutes on the road get furiously enraged for no reason.

In just over a year, I've received a grand total of 1 middle finger. That's all. Feels like all that was blown out of proportion. At least here, anyway. Somehow, it just feels like a big nothing burger.

I am having similar thoughts. I really wanted to replace our X with a CT but I don't want to Subject my Wife to any weirdness!!

Haven’t had much issue… until I been rolling with by windows down. They’ve decided a rolled down window is an opportunity to talk about politics and nazis.

They as in dudes with scrubby looking beards driving mini-SUVs, they all look alike.
