I just did exactly that. Started my new job at county the other day and it’s a real joy.
Had my first surgery department meeting and it made me very very happy.
The first half was about the raise structure for next year and was a complete snoozefest but the second half was about how the BBB is going to affect access for our neediest patients and that place lit on fire. Brought me great joy. Those are the kind of people I wanted to work with and I got it.
It’s a very different environment than my prior private practice job.

I applied to GigaTexas too. They told me no. No reason given. I assume they’re looking for a low level security officer to check IDs and not an armed position so they figured they’d be wasting their time with me, but I can’t be sure. A little disheartening.

If hiring decisions work anything like service centers I wouldn’t worry too much about that

Although I’ve always felt they had some of the most racist culturally appropriating commercials on tv and somehow nobody ever seems to go after them.

Didn't someone literally get shot when Popeyes released their new chicken sandwich? If there's a better advertisement for a product, I haven't seen it. Absolutely stupid someone would shoot someone over a chicken sandwich, but I can imagine other inmates asking him what he's in for and him having to explain that one and still act hard.
