It was nice to see you in person in the video but I just cannot do what you did. I would be scared to death.

FSD did handle it ok and am glad for that but I noticed you were always ready to take over and the stress of that would not make a good trip for me. I would feel better just driving myself cautiously. Call me old which I am getting there (67 soon) but even if I had any Telsa I would not do FSD especially in those winter roads.

Just me being honest and I truly hope the rest of your winter driving goes safely.

Great video.
I've never had any problems with FSD in Alaska until the recent 14. Updates. Previously, we were able to fine tune the speed in any mode up or down. No longer possible to make those adjustments to what I deem safe and comfortable. Tesla's service response was " don't use FSD". Kind of defeats the purpose of buying that feature on a new Plaid! I'm ready to sell this '25 model. This does not work for me to have only a " mode" as a choice for speed rather than the scrolling of the right thumbwheel.

What’s wrong with Sloth? That mode will never exceed the speed limit.

I am sure he said that PungotegueDave to get people to look. But is was really nice to see him and how he reacted. Even though I do not have a Telsa I like reading about them.

It would be interesting at least for viewing to see how FSD acts in a real snow showers coming down. As others have said FSD is a work in progress and you all are the Beta testers and imputer's.

As a skier, I guess I don't understand people who are terrified of a little snow covering the road. This is another reason why autonomy is a game-changer. Finally, as the technology continues to improve and prove itself, people who can't handle the white stuff will be safely chaperoned around in a relaxed manner on snow days. There must be a lot of people, even in places like Iowa, who are uncomfortable in the snow because he pointed out how few people had ventured out that day compared to usual.

FSD did handle it ok and am glad for that but I noticed you were always ready to take over and the stress of that would not make a good trip for me.
Oh, that's not my video, I just saw it online and posted a link. He did seem quite nervous through the first half of the video. He mentioned it was the first real snow this winter, so all his other FSD snow testing was done on earlier FSD versions, in previous winters, where he said it would fail miserably when the road markings were covered with snow. I thought I could detect him visibly becoming increasingly relaxed towards the end of the drive as he saw it was accommodating the conditions in the same manner he would have. We are still in the early days of this amazing technology, people are still uncomfortable with it in such conditions (and they should be, if they value safety). It would be dumb to have confidence in such a new technology, in conditions that it had previously failed miserably in.

The conditions were very mild, not extremely slippery (although much more slippery than wet pavement), and the snow was barely coming down. What called for caution was that all the road markings were covered with snow from the storm that had dropped 6 inches the night before (and the additional slipperiness that could become a problem should FSD need to take any sudden actions). That reduces the margin of safety with other cars on the road. As FSD gains the ability to function in increasingly difficult conditions, extra caution is warranted until the technology is proven in increasingly difficult conditions. The guy in the video was almost giddy with how well it handled those conditions compared to FSD versions available last winter.

If it’s damp on the road I want to go under the speed limit for safety. Sloth doesn’t give that option. And the Cybertruck can’t do basic lane keep like the other Teslas so I see the frustration. In my 3 when an FSD change happened that I didn’t like I fell back on TACC and lane keep. I dislike that I’m missing a feature even my parents’ KIA offers.

You missed my point of being able to "REDUCE" the speed by scrolling down the thumbwheel for "precise" desired control. In Alaska even in Sloth mode presents with inclement weather and prcise control.

My FSD always said cameras occluded, FSD won't work. With light snow it can still work, with heavy snow the system doesn't allow you to activate FSD.

There's a reason upstate NY or Erie PA aren't test markets for Robotaxi, the whole fleet would just need to shut down 10-20 days a year. This is about how many times a year my Teslas tell me that FSD can't be used.

Imagine owning a car without a steering wheel and it just says, "sorry, you can't go to work today, cameras occluded." I have lived in the snow belt my whole life and feel confident driving slowly in any conditions, for example my town I grew up in just had a 1.5-2 feet snow warning for one day. FSD cannot handle that condition, the cameras are as good as driving with your eyes closed.
