Cybertruck saves family of five, prevents major rollover accident

Scenario-
I let my friend drive my cyber truck.
coles notes-Long straight country road, no traffic, sketchy shoulder, friend launched beast from standstill, at 60mph my friend forgot to steer due to the acceleration, cybertruck drifts onto shoulder, drifts even more heading for a roadside pole, friends foot is stuck on the accelerator as he is frozen in awe, friend jerks the wheel to correct, I’m waiting for a spin out, rollover, skidding in circles or huge single vehicle accident.

Now I have wrapped a car around a pole before so I know what is coming. Flashbacks occur.

But no, ct easily gets back onto the road with ease. No skidding, no stability issues, it’s like there was no shoulder. Didn’t really know how we didn’t lose control, but upon research, over 45mph the tires steer in parallel. Once I watchedthecrear steer Tesla animation vid, it became clear how Cybertruck saved us.

Now, I’m gonna take some heat and a whole family could have been injured or really hurt. We had 3 children and three adults so all seat belts weren’t being used. Bad decision, yes. incredible truck, yes.

Lesson learned-with a new driver, start beast mode from the middle of road, not in the lane for a little wiggle room if something goes awry. Wear belts.

being not one to let a good chuckle escape, I did remind him he almost wiped out his family and coulda died. Then the kids starting saying “dad, we almost died” Moms just shaking her head. It was a bonding experience for sure

I let strangers drive my cyber. Some I’ll take for a ride, but mostly I put them in the driver’s seat and self drive It’s awesome and I know it’s a major event for them

I let friendly strangers in my truck all the time. They can poke it, jump on it, kick it, press all the buttons, it's all in good fun.

But if anyone asks to drive it, I direct them to request a test-drive directly from Tesla. Even if they financially covered any mishap, the bad experience would sour the relationship.

The AWD is more powerful than most supercars of 30 years ago, and the Cyberbeast is a goddamn rocketship. For the uninitiated, such power brings high risk. You can feel the G's from the passenger seat just fine, thank you very much.

Glad the truck handled itself well, and that everyone was unscathed. I've not needed to employ any emergency maneuvers as yet, but I'm pleased to know it will perform with aplomb.

The Cybertruck features rear-wheel steering, which plays a key role in enhancing agility and stability: ​

• At low speeds, rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels, reducing the turning radius. This makes parking and city driving feel more nimble—despite the Cybertruck’s massive size.
• At high speeds, the rear wheels turn in-phase with the front wheels, increasing stability during lane changes and evasive maneuvers.

You can feel it when doing quick lane changes at 70 mph. They are crisp, with minimal body roll. The truck feels more like it slides/glides into the next lane, rather than turning into it. It feels distinctly different from every front-wheel-only steer vehicle I've ever driven.

That's all the confirmation I need. More control is always a good thing!

It's funny how the media presents the Cybertruck as something breaking new ground in terms of being dangerous to other road users when the reality is the exact opposite. Better handling = less danger. Less accidents = less danger. Better crumple zones = less danger. Safer FSD = less danger.

People are catching on that the real danger is the media trying to slow down progress.

The front-rear wheel behavior changing at speed makes sense. Our X7 does the same thing ands was actually the inspiration for me to test drive the CT. If you watch the Munro tear down, one of the videos they find a ZF logo on the steering rack...which isn't surprising since they make just about everyone's rear steer systems.

The wild part is that the CT engages the rear steer from a standstill, while the X7 only engages it over 5 MPH (if I'm recalling correctly). Possibly a 48V power limitation or the Germans being overly conservative, as they tend to be. Either way, makes backing into my driveway easier in the CT even though it's significantly longer. It also has way more angle. X7 maxes out at 2.5°, CT originally had 3°, but a software update extended it to 10°.

I have noticed that when changing lanes or going around corners quickly while accelerating, it feels a bit sluggish, but still precise. It’s hard to explain, but it feels like a boat, but with high precision. I’m wandering if this it switching from regular to crab, as I accelerate over the 45 mph mark. Its not often it happens, but when it does it kind of like, ”what was that“ and I‘m curious if its noticeable from outside.
