We were at York PA for Train Collectors Association largest model train show in the USA. Left with what we thought was enough range to get to Sumerset. I had to take a short nap (being older) so I let my brother in law take the wheel. Used FSD on standard. I dozed off for a bit and woke up 32 miles from Sumerset with 49 miles of range. Appeared to be no problem No problem but I looked at the route and CT wanted us to go 12 miles north to a supercharger in order to "make"Sumerset. . I told my brother in law that I would drive. The boys in the back said we should have enough range...."keep going to Sumerset". I figured to take off FSD, turn heat off, put wipers on command and use regeneration to get us there. What I didn't count on was the headwind and mostly uphill. Geeeze it was getting close. As we got closer going uphill we saw our range "cushion" shrink fast. I regenerated when I got a little downhill slope and I slowed to 45-50 mph. It was getting close as we approached 2 miles away we were at 1 mile range. I coasted. As we rolled up entrance of the rest stop/service plaza we had been on zero for a half mile. Coasting into the charging area the boys let out a sigh as they didn't have to push. When I was finally backed in to charge we rolled out of the truck laughing that we made it. Perhaps there is a cushion unwritten I don't know. I am just glad we made it. I have been as low as 12 miles on another trip but this was just crazy. I can't express how worried I was after reaching point of no return and it was mostly uphill. Too nerve-racking that I was really really worried we going to have to get a flatbed to take us to the charger. Thank goodness for regen. I do low my truck!

If the truck is showing the preconditioning battery message, delete the Supercharger waypoint. That can save a bunch of energy.

Neutral power usage is better than regen followed by power application (though speed range does impact this).

FSD is better at holding a steady power output and having it active doesn't use much, if any, extra energy.

Yes I took the nav waypoint off. I didn't want it preconditioning and I tried as much as I could for neutral power usage but ...wow...it was mostly uphill. We were so lucky!!! thanks
