Does it improve upon the OEM fender cam by being higher resolution or by offering a different field of view or perhaps it's just always on without taking up space on the center screen? A combination of all three?

It looks like half of the field of view is the side of your truck.

As a substitute for side mirrors, I required that side camera views always be displayed, not just one side view when a turn signal is activated, or both covering up most of the center screen. The camera views are wide angle, with good resolution, but images appear more distant than mirrored images which takes some getting used to (same for Tesla's rear view camera display). After almost 2 years, I have not been ticketed for not having side mirrors.
