I was supposed to pick up my Cybertruck on 6/15/24 got a text the day before that they had to reschedule because of the wiper motor. Now I am supposed to pick up the vehicle today at 5pm and just get a call at 10:30 am that they need to reschedule due to a part needing to be replaced. They said sometime next week it should be ready.
I asked him what the part is, and they told me it was a "Sail Applique". I then asked what it is for, and he said the Tonneau. I looked up the parts in the catalog and couldn't locate anything that was a "Sail Applique". I found the following parts with the words "Sail" in them. I am assuming that it may be the Sail Baffle Closeout. Not sure though.

  • PANEL - UPPER SAIL BRACKET - LEFT HAND
    1821281-ST-C in Body Side Panels
  • PANEL - UPPER SAIL BRACKET - RIGHT HAND
    1821282-ST-C in Body Side Panels

  • SAIL BAFFLE CLOSEOUT - LEFT HAND
    1848587-00-D in Exterior Trim Fittings
  • SAIL BAFFLE CLOSEOUT - RIGHT HAND
    1848588-00-D in Exterior Trim Fittings

Anyone have any idea on what this issue is going to resolve that is currently happening to Cybertrucks?

It's the plastic trim on the sail, beside the tonneau. They've been falling off.

Thanks.

Didn't realize this was already brought up. Mods can probably delete this thread.

What I pick up from this that I think is new is that, as of yesterday, it seems orders are being canceled for the Sail recall. On the 16th orders were canceled for the wiper motor, and rescheduled. But now I am reading about new cancellations. Let's watch and see.

I would just take delivery and have mobile service fix it once they get the parts.

May be something else going on. Just got cancelled for tomorrow's delivery. NTSB site says no incomplete recalls pending for my CT (18XXX). Didn't get an explanation, only "we'll let you know when it is ready".

Tesla might not allow this. Releasing a product with a known safety issue could cause a liability. Even signing a release form might not legally absolve the manufacturer of negligence.
They won’t allow it. I tried as my beast was canceled 2 hours before pickup this afternoon. Tape the damn thing down and LFG!!! ?

So far it seems the tape isn't always having the interface removed before the part is installed. They'll probably figure out a way to make sure this error can't be repeated in the factory.

Not sure it's a safety issue, but it totally is an issue!

I was about 1.5 hours from picking up my beast on 6/25, and they texted and said all deliveries were back on hold. I have not gotten an ETA when I can pick it up. Not sure if this is the same Issue.

I agree a piece of plastic poses little direct risk to other drivers, but it could cause an accident or chain of events that lead to injury.

I ride a motorcycle, if I go down on a highway there is a good chance I become roadkill.
