Tell them you want a freshly assembly vehicle from the Austin assembly plant.

That would be my expectation on a $100k/$120k Cybertruck.

Customer reject? Factory rework? I personally would not accept that old VIN. Fresh Cybertruck's should be in the 24xxx VIN range by now.
What vins are rolling off the line now?

Before you draw a line in the sand that you may end up regretting, you may first want to ask the SC why the truck has been sitting around for a couple of months. Did it take longer to clear the factory? Was it simply in a recall queue? After all, you reserved a foundation series CT, not a specific lot number. If it passes acceptance criteria then who are we to be more demanding?

Not sure about that claim of new VIN’s being in the 24xxx range. I took delivery of an AWD on 7/11 and my VIN is 14xxx. Manufacture date of 5/2024 on the driver’s door plate. I had a chance to crawl around inside a tactical gray interior AWD at the SC when I took delivery (they would have let me change my mind and VIN swap). I didn’t look at the VIN of that truck, but its door plate had a manufacture date of 6/2024 and the SC had just received that truck from Austin assembly plant the day prior (7/10).

Newest VINs are in the 24xxx range but they doesn’t mean they are being delivered now. And I’d expect to see VINs in the 30xxx range getting assigned a month from now.

I’m curious as to what your original VIN that you couldn’t accept was.
I wish I copied it but it got removed from my account so not sure

Just looked at vin and it seems “old” 12087 worried it sat in a lot for a while. Any thoughts on that vin??
Are those the last 5 numbers of the VIN?

Yeah, definitely sounds like they are giving you a much older Cybertruck. I would not accept delivery with that one.

I would, but up to you, a lot of these crazy issues that many have been reporting are in your VIN range. But, I guess if the SC fixes all the recalls and such, it doesn't matter too much. I just know Tesla continues to improve the Cybertruck as they notice deficiencies and you are a bit less likely to have mechanical issues with a newer VIN.

What do you mean don't pay in full before delivery? Don't you have to make your final payment before delivery day? They will just refund the payment - $1000 order fee if you don't accept delivery wont they?
You can pay after you have inspected the truck at the SC.

Hi Everyone,

Curious to hear your thoughts / opinions.

I ordered my AWD CT with white interior on June 27 and to my surprise a vin was assigned to me the next day. A few days later I got a message that it was time to schedule my delivery; only 1 problem....I was out of the country until July 17. I asked to schedule delivery on July 18 and was told they could not hold the truck and I would need to put my order on hold :(

I released the hold on July 10 figuring that within about a week or so I would get a new vin and all good, however its now been about 9 days and still no vin or any other information about my order.

I'm seeing more Grey units being delivered in Paramus NJ on the lot and wondering if I change my order to grey if I will get it faster?

Wonder if they are manufacturing in batches or making all white, then making all grey or if they are making white and grey at the same time and I should just hange tight and wait.

What do you think?
I feel after waiting 4 1/2 years, if Tesla can’t wait 1-2 weeks for you to return from being out of country, I would tell Tesla to F-themself! (I think I heard someone from Tesla use these exact words). I say this because I too have an out country vacation coming up while my CT is also said to arrive. CS tried this on me back in May when bought my model Y, I couldn’t meet their delivery schedule due traveling for work. They me they couldn’t HOLD vehicle that I might lose out to another willing customer, told Tesla, “sell it and ship in another one, I already had .99% loan rate locked, which what mattered to me”. Guess What, the car was still available a week later, when I was ready to take delivery. Has much as I love Tesla, I am still the customer with the money!
