Maybe I wasn't clear enough, but what I am talking about is the whole reason behind the "foundation series" in the first place was to give them breathing room to refine the product and ramp up the production, supply, and support lines. And yes, early adopters are late stage beta testers. This has been the case with every new piece of tech for decades.

I'm not guessing at this; I'm explaining. lol
The main reason for the FS is to make more money and to help that supplement the ramp. Elon said they are still on pace to make the CT profitable by the end of the year, which means it's not yet profitable with R&D, construction, scale, etc.

They didn't have foundation M3, MY, or refreshed MS/X options, but they lost a ton of money on the M3 at the start.

No one is waiting on an invite in the US.

So what if people are waiting for VINs - they have to keep filling up the VIN line.

Same for delivery. They still have to fill the line for orders after those.

That doesn't make sense. People are waiting 3+ months for a VIN yet if you order now you can get it the same month.

People can get quick deliveries if they order the correct combination. Otherwise they will wait as well. It looks like CB and core/AS tires are the biggest thing that delays delivery followed by grey interior.

Honestly, I'm not sure how they are going to sell this truck for 80k or less. Tesla has come a long way and the quality of build and finish is remarkable in my opinion.
Tesla will get the Cybertruck to less than $80K the same way they reduce the cost of manufacture of their other models over time.

Specifically, they are always looking for ways to perform every process faster/better. They look for ways to eliminate production steps, shorten the production line and increase throughput. They are always leveraging higher volumes with their suppliers to get lower component costs. When they are ready to add another production line, they take all their learnings from the initial production line and incorporate them into the new production line.

Anything that helps them build more Cybertrucks, more quickly, helps lower the cost to produce. This is how a company brings maximum value to buyers of new vehicles. No other manufacturer does this as well, Tesla was forced to become experts at delivering value in order to compete with ICE vehicles, vehicles that inherently cost less to build due to not needing an expensive battery. Now, no one can effectively compete with Tesla. That's how they managed to go from a small EV startup, producing just a handful of hand made cars in 2010, to a major automaker with the best-selling car in the world, gas or electric, by 2023, only 13 years later. By offering superior value. Higher quality vehicles at lower prices. This is why other automakers are running scared and doing everything they can to slow Tesla down.

Tesla exhausted their Cybertruck reservation list faster than I expected.
Huh? Tesla hasn't "exhausted" it's reservation list, it's still there. It's full of people who didn't want to pay extra for Foundation Series.

Take a deep breath and come back to reality.

Yes. This is more accurate. They have gone through the list and converted all those who want to pay for FS. There should be a larger % that want non-FS.

Hopefully the CT pricing will remain no less than the $100K level so it will continue to sustain a premium product.
Ummm, no. That's not the business plan. Tesla's business plan is to constantly deliver ever increasing value, to expand their addressable market.

The last thing Tesla wants is to be a boutique vehicle maker.

Well, this just sucks in the biggest way possible. We've been waiting for five damn years now, and anyone willing to pony up an extra 20-40 thousand can get in, and slide right over any and all other reservation holder. What the fuck ELON, way to pull the carrot a little bit further every year. After jackin' up the price by 60% (50K to 80K), now we get to watch the rest of the world load up on Cybertrucks. Sheeez. Sucks to be us, I guess. It's just wrong. That's exactly how I feel.
yeah this has been a bad way to treat the early preorders and seems a little greedy. But it’s a hot product so hard to blame them. I’m not sure how to feel about it. I want Tesla to succeed. But it’s understandable to be mad after waiting so long.

As a shareholder you should be pleased that Tesla is extracting as much money as possible from the Foundation series.

Ford loss per EV is in the $40k range per vehicle. Same with Rivian. Meanwhile, Tesla (and BWM) earns a profit.

So many threads discussing the value of the extra $20k upfront price of the Foundation series.

My guess is FS orders end Nov. 18th 2024 ..... What's your guess?
Good question. May be based on how much longer Tesla can sustain a de cent level of FS orders. Looks like they’re about to dwindle off now.

edit: Ah, just dawned on me why you may have said this. Because they said for this first year FS would be available. So the first full year would end about Nov 18th. Makes sense.

Got my email last night, ordered it right away. I am extremely pumped and even more pumped this morning finding out there is no luxury tax for the Cybertruck!
Happy for you except that the price is prohibitive and why is the regular AWD version not yet available at $50,000 US as agreed by this dear Elon? ??

As a day 1 reservation holder, early adopter and purchaser... while I understand why Tesla continues to sell the Foundation series to maximize profit, I hate it.

I was hoping I would have some level of extra value in my truck being a foundation series. I recently saw a newly assigned VIN that was in the 70,000 range. So there will probably be 100,000 of these foundation series by the time they truly stop making them, if not more.

So unfortunately for us early adopters who waited 4+ years there will be no additional value by having a foundation series, if anything our value sinks faster once non-foundation gets released. As there won't be too many people looking to spend say $80k on a used foundation series with XXXXX miles that will be all over the used marketplace when they can get a brand new cybertruck for the same price. Bummer. Maybe if I hold onto it for 30+ years it will have some value then.
