A few times now my iphone has heated up on the wireless charger to the point where the call drops, it displays the Temp Warning message, and I have to wait until it cools off before I can use it again. A/C is on, temp inside the cab is set for 68, seems to take about 20 mins, and the pad itself doesn't feel especially warm.

Unfortunately, a large portion of new vehicles with wireless charging over heats every phone. I’ve talked to several owners of many different new vehicles and they all complain about their phones over heating from their vehicle’s wireless charging.
I just plug in my phone via USB-C. No worries.

Due to the material. Most qi wireless chargers have cooling builtin. The problem is Teslas don't have any cooling and thats by design and specifically in the Cybertrucks case the sun beams directly on the charging spot. Hire me Tesla I'll help you design a proper qi charging plate w built in cooling ?

I noticed my phone was hot too when I picked it up last week. I figured it was from the sun. ha!

So get this, I didn't have that issue yesterday on a road trip at all. So it's inconsistent for me it seems and doesn't happen every time.

This is NOT specific to the cybertruck, iphone or android. Here needs to be a setting to slow down the charging to avoid overheating.

I disagree. I have multiple wireless chargers that work great and the one in the truck is clearly not designed well for certain size/brand of phone. I love my truck but the charger is useless in my situation (iPhone 15 pro).

I just ordered the silicone cover for the CT charger pads from Teslaunch hoping it will mitigate the heat issue but still charge. Will report back on the results.

Please let us know if it works. I have friends that tried this fix with their vehicles but their phones still over heat.

Sorry, forgot to follow-up!
The phone still heats up through the silicone, but I think it happens slower, so at least you’re getting a longer charge before the heat affects it. Looks pretty cool too!

I posted yesterday (I think it was in a different thread) problem seems to be the iPhone and not the CT. I purchased a brand new Pixel 9 phone and it does not overheat and charges to 100%.

I’ve had the same results with the silicone. Much more reliable charging and seems quite a bit cooler.

I’m also trying out an Apple MagSafe Duo unfolded with the Apple Watch part hanging over the front. I’ve only had one “charging on pause….” Due to heat with that. I do have heat rejection front window film.
