Couldn't you taper the edge to follow the shape of the door panel? Looks like it would easily snag.

Certainly could! This was a quick print done for us while in town during a long road trip… so the design could be refined, but the functionality is great!

And even tethering them, the door handles are going to be in range, and the more frustrated a cat is with the tether's range the more likely they will try to get out of it.

So tethering for a cat is simply something only for while you're moving and you're there.

The cat rides in a crate. I don't need it crawling under the pedals or spreading fur all over the dash.

Yes, we actually have crates for the cats when in motion. It’s like a cat condo in the rear seat. Two stories, six compartments and a tunnel to the litter box. But when we stop to charge we let them roam inside the truck to eat and play. That’s how we discovered the door open button issue! ?

Cage your cat. Anything with claws and attitude should not be loose unsupervised, nor when you’re driving. No accident that way, it can’t claw you while driving because you failed to obey it fast enough.

The front doors aren’t affected by that setting. The door tabs are important for when cats are roaming during charge stops or overnight while camping.

They can stay caged for the entire trip except if they can be walked on a leash. Between other buttons and not wanting the interior scratched up, they’re just a pest in a vehicle, driving or dog mode.

I have never had a problem with the interior getting scratched. They usually just want to peek out the window and have some privacy in the litter box or a chance at some quiet under the seats.

Some are good like that. Some are hyper (kitten of a barn cat, that did high speed patrol duty looking for crawlies, and could jump 5 feet straight up and work door handles). And some are Norman Bates (Psycho) and Jack Torrance (The Shining) put together.

Dogs know they're not in charge, that their human is the pack alpha, although sometimes they forget. Cats are always convinced they're in charge, even if sometimes it's convenient for them to play up to us.

people might think this is silly but I will never forget going to the gas station with my dog and her jumping up and locking the doors ? 1 hour and triple A later we got to Cary on. But I will say I didn’t have a app that could do things like unlock the doors with that truck
