Someone may have already mentioned this, but If Tesla was allowing holds and now is not, that makes me think FS is about over. Im still very curious to the percent of reservation holders that will actually take delivery. A lot of people were guessing 90%. My guess is closer to 50%. Maybe less. My reservation was in mid-2021. Im hoping for delivery sometime in 2025 or early 2026 . ?
I was thinking the same thing.

I also wonder how this will affect used Cybertruck market prices in the short-term? If Tesla cancels my order and doesn't allow me to pay them for the FS Cyberbeast in a few weeks, I can just use my cash to buy a used one with very little miles for the same price, or maybe even less.

I would think used prices will drop. Because of the EV tax credit it will effectively make the truck $72,500. FS should be higher because of added features/accessories. But I would think they will drop much more than the 1k you would lose. My guess would be around 80k for a used FS AWD and 100k for a CyberBeast, but who knows just depends on the supply/demand and timing (how long you're willing to wait).

It's remarkable how wrong you are on everything you say. Just do everyone a favor and leave the thread.
When you have no coherent response of your own all you can do is try and silent others.

Not sure how I've lost anything. I would end up saving $19,000 and I still get a Cybertruck with improved features next year, and that's if Tesla actually goes through with cancelling my order, which has not happened yet. I still have my business, too.
Then what have you been whining about this whole time?

A hold is not an order - it's a cheap attempt to secure a spot in line for the nonfoundstion models without losing the deposit. So the petition is like 'sign here to acknowledge Tesla calling us out for what we tried to do.' Place your order or lose your deposit. You read the agreement like I did.

Dude, misplaced inventory is still inventory. So is inventory that's moving from one location to another.

These are just basic accounting terms.
No unsold inventory in the automotive sense as in sitting on dealer lots.

If someone cancels an order it will get reassigned to the next person in line. If you are lucky (or unlucky) you can get someone else's reject instead of having to wait for a new build.

All of it is unsold until the buyer forks over the cash. Unassigned... Well, they have people waiting for VINs, so they match those up.

There is still a loss when they have to do that shuffle, though. It isn't free.

On Teslas website you can search inventory to buy. Those are unsold vehicles available for you to purchase right now without waiting. There is no such inventory for CT. Hence the inventory is zero.

That's only a fraction of their 'inventory'. It's all loss until they find a buyer.

And it's all still inventory, even if they're not selling them on the side.

Why would you put a deposit on something you don't want?
I can certainly understand why someone may want to cancel their order to wait for the non FS truck, chances are that Tesla will drop the price of the CT significantly and you will still have an awesome vehicle. Unlike most auto makers Tesla has a tendency to reduce the price of theirs cars in accordance to their production costs, there are a bunch of CT's coming out of GT they must be nearing scale on it so expect a price cut.

SIGN THE PETITION https://chng.it/74JWJbTxJz

Tesla is cancelling Foundation Series Cybertruck orders, and forcing people who ordered an FS Cybertruck to take delivery or lose their $1,000 deposit.

In November 2023, Tesla starting taking $1,000 deposits for a Foundation Series Cybertruck.
There are plenty of people that put a $1,000 deposit thinking they would get a non-FS Cybertruck.

Our petition is for TESLA to:

#1 Allow those people, who put a $1,000 deposit, to get put in the line to get a non-FS Cybertruck.
#2 OR convert to another Tesla Model delivery
#3 OR convert to Tesla Cash.
When I saw that and read the terms and conditions, it said it was a nonrefundable deposit. Did I remember this wrong or am I correct?

Most of us who configured early did so without even being able to see a Cybertruck in person, much less test drive one. I am sure that, like me, they paid the deposit understanding there was a good chance it might turn out to be unsuitable and were willing to lose the $1000 if necessary rather than make a $100,000-$120,000 mistake.

Fortunately, optimism has been rewarded. It's a great truck, a great Tesla, a great EV, but you always have to recognize your downside risk and be prepared to accept it when you go into anything.
