This goes to show that people don't want a ICE with the motor ripped out and a battery inserted. The buyer profile is different. The Cybertruck has tapped into that new EV Truck Buyer profile. RIVIAN, GM and Ford are trying to get typical truck buyers to buy their product. Based on the numbers, it is obviously not happening.

Self driving when it comes! Tesla had no problem cashing our checks and GM already had it out… what’s the problem? JJ

Half a billion in revenue in a month on a new product. Not bad.

Not surprised either. There is some overlap on buyer pools with traditional trucks, but not as much as most think.

This is probably taking market share away from larger SUVs, some trucks, and maybe even some cannibalization of model Y, etc.

Not great news for Tesla as a whole:

Tesla, the EV market leader, ended a five-month slump with a 1.2% increase in registrations, bolstered by 5,175 deliveries of the highly anticipated Cybertruck launched in November. Other EV pickups combined sold just 5,546 units during the same period.
They're crushing the pickup market, but their other segments are dropping:

Tesla maintained its dominance in the electric vehicle (EV) market, but its Model 3 sedan experienced a significant 31% drop in registrations. This decline was primarily attributed to the base model being ineligible for federal EV tax credits due to stricter battery-sourcing regulations implemented earlier in the year.

Despite Tesla’s dominance, non-Tesla EV registrations surged 38% year-over-year as competitors gained momentum. Hyundai Motor Group, which includes the Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis brands, secured second place with 10,846 EV registrations. General Motors followed in third with 9,767 registrations across its Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC, and BrightDrop brands, while Ford Motor Co. ranked fourth with 9,504 registrations.

“This is the second wave of competitor vehicles,” Libby said. “These are very solid and competitive products affecting Tesla’s position.”
Also should be noted Lighting's production was cut in half this year, likely to move over to the ground up version.

Cybertruck sales for July 2024 totaled 5,175 units, while the rest of the EV pickup segment totaled just 5,546 units.

By comparison, F-150 Lightning sales totaled 2,822 units in July.

I have owned several “Trophy trucks” and The cyber truck is by far my favorite. So many things I love about it that it would take too long to list them all, but there is also a couple downsides So it’s not perfect. Blind spots and More horse power! 1000 Hp.

Tesla was upfront that FSD would come later. No one put a gun to anyone's head and made them write a check. When it comes to this, or anything else someone thinks should have been included with the foundation series release, everyone had the option to wait until everything they wanted was available. Tesla made a smart business decision and said, here is what we can offer you now and here is the price, take it, or wait, or cancel your order. With so many fully informed people more than willing to accept that offer and at that price, why would they delay revenue, and continue to incur costs and wait?

I wonder how Tesla overall sales relate to the overall auto industry. All I hear is that traditional dealerships have an abundance of cars sitting on lots… but that can be the same sensationalized garbage that people hear about Cybertruck, for example, and take it at face value.

This is going to be one of the most iconic vehicle in our century that will be remembered by the majority of people for a lifetime. I wish I was able to purchase a DeLorean way back when but now that I am older and able to write bigger checks I am super happy with owning a cyberbeast. Yes, it was super expensive, but you can’t put a price on happiness. I just love the stainless steel exterior. There was so much chatter online about the truck either way but No matter what people say the cybertruck is groundbreaking and cutting edge Technology, That will lead the way for the entire auto industry. My kids will be talking to their friends 50 years from now and talk about when they first got to see and drive in a cyber truck. Also in 50 years, I believe that they’ll be able to put a battery pack in the truck that would easily last 20,000 miles per charge or even better. People will be going to antique car shows, and they will be showing off their foundation series trucks Showing off features at all modern day vehicles have. So take care of your cybertrucks it will be a valuable collectible vehicle down the road.

It's the start of a new revolution, with the Cybercab (aka robotaxi) coming out next month based off the CT design this new paradigm will become commonplace.
