Battery pack prices are 20% lower today than they were in 2019.
Hot-rolled Coiled Steel was $703 / ton on April 1, 2019 and was $696 / ton on Friday.
I think this is less about inflation than about someone's cost model being a bit too optimistic...

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
No one’s making you buy it ?
If I was as mad as some of yal I for sure wouldn’t want to hand my money to that company or evens want to talk about there product

Me desperate? No, I'm on the waiting list.

Him desperate, well eating through 1.5M reservation holders in 9 days, he might be soon.

Good for me.
According to what you read on this web page he went through them ? But honest question
Why would you want a vehicle to fail or devalue so badly that you’re wanting so badly to own ? Make it make sense.. why would you want the company and owner to be “desperate” so you can buy a product that no one wants and isn’t worth anything anymore ? I don’t get the logic

I'll be interested at the end of the day how people's end prices end up looking. The bare bones CT kinda sucks (IMHO). It really does need some add-ons that make it nicer. Some stuff can go and is probably irrelevant like the white interior... but other stuff is really nice, such as FSD and the Premium Internet. Its nice not to have to get a nickel-dime bill for connectivity each month... it reminds me of bag fees for airlines... just include it in the price so you don't get that feeling like your wallet is getting picked from monthly (can you tell I hate subscriptions?). I own big trucks and I like beefy tires... the AT tires are a must, especially if you plan on really doing off-roading with it. So at the end, my price on a CT wouldn't be too far off from what I got a Foundation Series for. This is all my opinion of course and YMMV. I'm interested where other folks final price lies.
The CT looks tacky without the A/T tires. And dont forget the FSD. When i first got my CT i would have left out the FSD if i had the choice. Now that i have it I am very glad it came with the truck. It is so well worth the money. You are spot on with your comment.

I agree. It looks to “car like” to me I wasn’t a huge fan of the AT they had as well I wanted even more meat on the side. I went with the Toyo ATIII 295/55/22.

I've never said I want the Cybertruck to fail. I want the Cybertruck to make sales. Reducing price will increase sales. It has high enough margin to reduce price.

There's been many reports of new customers able to configure non-founders series now. Eating through all the reservation holders means either they aren't really serious reservation holders, the prices are too high, or they're waiting for the RWD.

Obviously they should definitely start high and go lower. Hence the Founders, then non-founders, then eventually RWD.

Instead I'm saying reduce price of the AWD to stay competitive.

In order of $/mile range descending:

Silverado EV LT Ext 408 mile for $75k
Sierra EV Denali 440 mile for $89.5k
Lightning Flash 320 mile for $68k
Silverado EV RST Max 460 mile for $98k
R1T Dual Max Pack 410 mile for $92k
Silverado EV RST Ext 390 mile for $89k
CT AWD 340 mile non-founder for $79k

In terms of value, re: $/mile range, they have room to improve.

In order for the CT AWD to get on top of $/mile range, the price would have to be $53k.

Now, it doesn't have to be on top, but better placed for sure.

But some if not all those you mentioned are models with out all the add ons to equal what the cyber truck comes with stock if you change that lighting into the Platinum model that would compare it’s 90k most of the other prices are close to the CT but the difference is your getting something that is ahead and different looking that’s why he can sale them for more then the cars you mentioned IMO there isn’t a compatible model on the market by looks alone before you add in the rest of the things. I wouldn’t hold your breath on the rear wheel coming out. I also originally ordered that model but said screw it 20k more to get it now and not in 4 months 8 months 1 year , why not. Till something compatible comes it’s a 1 of a kind. To compare it to a rivian or a lightning is wild to me. It doesn’t even look like the same thing. You might as well be comparing it to any electric car then. iMO

I removed the WT since I think those can only be bought with fleet.

Otherwise all of those are AWD. The only thing the CT has over those others is 4 wheel steering which is not available as add-ons. Otherwise they are all similar.

The Hummer EV truck with all wheel steering is last on the list of $/mile range value.

I stand by the list.

Bro you can’t compare any of those to the CT. You might as well be comparing an electric Honda why ? Because none of them resemble in anyway the CT sure they both are considered “trucks” but hardly the same you no what all those you mentioned have in common though ? They all look the same. A truck. That’s the edge that’s the difference. I just sold my Chevy diesel 2500 I had for 9 years. Loved it but not on this earth could I park them side by side and consider them in the same world by looks alone

The Tesla sales model worked OK when there was no competition. Wealthy Early adopters payed more for exclusivity. Prices then gradually came down allowing a larger market to buy their product and most buyers were happy.

Today the same introductory tactic looks like price gouging. If they have the margin to lower the price to well under 80k and can take advantage of rebates the market share will soar. Then everyone who purchased early will feel ripped off. Will need quite a bit of popcorn to finish watching this play out.

If you're whole argument is based on looks alone then you're not understanding my post. In which case pay whatever you want on looks. Don't get me wrong, I like the CT looks. But my post is about $/mile range.

If you don't want to talk about that then have a good day.

ok so you just want to take 1 part that follows your narrative of it being overpriced and ignore the unique look that also drives the price ? Gotcha.

You said they are not comparable. I asked for what your evidence was that proved your point that they weren't comparable. You then said it's all about the looks.

I don't get why you commented on a post about value when your whole point is looks.

Omg wow. You for real bro ??? You don’t think the way a car looks drives the price just the range does ? You don’t get it you’re correct there. Like what are we talking about here ? Then just start comparing electric Porsche and anything else electric out there ! It’s a package !!! The “package “ (price) involves the tech the looks the range the comfort !!! Allll the things Anyway don’t buy one ? you seem to have great arguments for 12 other electric cars so pick one of those cheaper ones that is priced on par to your budget and isn’t “overpriced “ as you say the CT is . ?
