🤔Do you think a rotatable central control screen is an essential feature?

I would like to discuss a few points with everyone:

1. When you drive, do you look at the central control screen more, or your phone more?
2. When you look at your phone, do you look down, or do you have a mount that holds it in front of the steering wheel?
3. Do you think the rotatable screen feature in the video is a must-have?
4. How do you solve the navigation issue?

1. Definitely the phone more because my truck drives everywhere I go.
2. I have had mounts that attach to the windshield, the vent and now the screen. All behind the squircle.

Great explanation. The navigation issue I'm referring to is that the phone screen is too small to see clearly. In that case, we might turn to the central control screen. If the central control screen cannot rotate, it would be very straining, which is the fourth issue I wanted to express.

Not even kind of. Maybe a slight upgrade but For what do I need it to rotate a few inches to the left or right ? It isn’t like it’s 13” it’s huge.

If the sun is strong and you don't turn the screen around, it might reflect light. What do you think?

Never look at the phone when driving. May take a peek when stopped at a traffic light behind a line of vehicles (thank you Tesla green light *ding*). Will not look at my phone if I'm at the front of the line, too much else to monitor.

Also usually don't look at the central screen much - maybe to glance at directions but the audio nav is pretty clear and I use voice controls for Spotify, messaging, etc so don't have to look at the screen at all.

Not a fan of pivoting screens due to safety concerns in an accident situation, would prefer them to be fixed. But that's me.

I did try the pivoting screen in a few X loaners (my Plaid was built before that feature was added) and really didn't see any value or use of it. Left it in the standard position and I suspect most people do since Tesla didn't add screen rotation to the Highland 3 or Cybertruck.

All that said, I'd prefer a clean HUD with speedo, basic turn-by-turn nav, turn signal indicators and that's it. That's really the ideal option IMHO.

I don’t know l, I have tinted windows and a matted screen protector so not sure they would happen for me

Yes the screen moving is critically important. You can get in situations where glare from the sun makes it hard to see. The center screen is a critical safety feature, it shows the speed, rear view and blind spots.

The problem with the current product businesses are selling to rotate the screen is that it lowers the screen significantly. This makes it so you have to remove your eyes from the road at a greater angle see the screen

Here is an example, I have had it be this way or 100% covered for long stretches. Here in TX all roads are straight for long ways, if the glare is bad, you are unlikely to change direction for a long time.

Personal preference for the most part, but I have never thought of adjusting any of my MCUs.

The center screen is actually in the best possible position because of how your peripheral vision works. Try looking down in between your steering wheel and pay attention to how much your frontal vision is completely cut off.

Then look at your center screen at the factory positioned angle, and check to see if you can see partly view the roadway.

We will likely adjust the height of the rotating bracket for your issue in the future, so that it won't reduce the screen height.

Nope... as for reflections never had an issue but I do have tinted side windows. I keep the Tesla provided roof shade install so it's dark.
