So I, like most if not all here was PUMPED to take delivery of my CT on 9 November.

Then, less than 48 hours later I began getting notifications that my AC charging was unavailable, thought that meant I could just rely on supercharging until getting it in to the shop… NOPE.
Tesla Cybertruck CT in service for 2 Weeks… 48Hrs after delivery!!!😬 IMG_1796

Both AC and DC charging were no-gos. Brought it into SC and without a service completion date, was given a MX loaner, and told they would fix it as soon as the part came in.

I was called back two days after dropping off to SC by the manager who said they would have the part and repair done between 18-20 Nov.

That window came and I had the feeling things weren’t going to be ready at that time. I reached out and was given a new window of “sometime end week or beggining of next week’ without explanation or acknowledging the prior promised day.

As a new member of the Tesla community, is this type of client service typical??
I still don’t understand how they can say they’ll have a part in shop one week and then say it will arrive a full week later…?

Yes. This is normal for them. If you are ok with it, just be polite, understanding, and accommodate them, and then toward the end, you may even be rewarded with getting your vehicle back in functioning condition at some point.

If you are not okay with it, keep track of the number of days your truck is in service, mention the word “lemon” and they will get the shop manager involved, and everything will be “done” quickly. But no guarantees that there wont be any more issues. Document everything.

I’m in the habit of acting courteously, even when I’m not “okay” with the situation. I feel like this is the best course of action to arrive at a resolution.

That being said, I am surprised to hear that this is common occurrence. I’ve had thoughts of turning it in and going with a Rivian, my only hope now is that this is a one off and my CT is reliable in the years to come ???

Needing service is not common. Waiting for parts a little more so. The Rivians drive much worse than a CT and can be prone to lots of problems as well. You'll be fine.

I like the Lemon idea. It’s cool to be nice and all but sometimes they see that as “we can put him on the back burner and handle these other people who are pissed.
I think I would be pissed if a few days after delivery I had to give it back for 2 weeks

I agree, staying polite is the best course, as they did not do this to your truck, and they are there to try to provide resolution within the limitations set by the company. After all, they are essentially retail workers. Its not their fault Tesla quality control sucks and that their tech gets released on an iterative basis.

they basically rely on consumers to tell them what the problems with their products are, so they can fix them at the factory level going forward.

it puts so so much pressure on tesla service for new product releases. Couple that with the other products needing service, parts shortages, and you end up with two types of customers

The “its ok, they gave me a loaner and ill have my truck back eventually and it will be better than ever”

and the “i cant have this be my reality, i need my car not to be in the shop for weeks right out of the gate, i am not a beta tester guinea pig, this should have been fixed before del, i cant get behind this model right now, take it back”

with my circumstance, the manager said something similar: “the only thing that will make you ok with this is leaving and experiencing thousands and thousands of worry free miles” and i agreed, as i drove away, the same error popped up.
needless to say, they agreed to buy back my truck.
be nice to them and the process will go as smooth as possible, no matter which you choose. Hell, they may even give you a “youre right this shouldnt be happening” gift if you ask nicely.

if needing service was not common, Tesla would not have spent over $1 Billion on warranty claims in 2023.

i agree with your statement about Rivian. Anecdotally, everyone ive talked to who has needed anything besides mobile service, especially for parts, has waited months for resolution with Rivian.

my truck was in service for more than 2/3 of the time i owned it. Most of the miles put on it were driving back and fourth to the service center.

Did they lemon it ? I always want to say I feel lucky I got what I got in these threads but don’t want to jinx it so pretend I didn’t say that ? . Although in 4 months I’ve only put 2000 miles on it so It could go down hill anytime

the thing about lemon laws is that they vary state to state. I met the MA threshold for a lemon law claim (15 business days in service within the first year or 15,000 miles) and i mentioned this to them, they escalated it to their business resolution team who either decides to buy back the vehicle or fight the claim, in my case they bought the vehicle back, which avoids it being title branded as a “lemon”

so technically, no my truck will not be labeled as a lemon, which lets them use it as a demo, loaner, or even sell it used to an unsuspecting customer, but it resolves my problem of owning a defective vehicle.

you can look at my profile and see the issues ive had that i posted about, i was fortunate not to encounter the inverter issue.

Wells it’s nice it isn’t your problem anymore. Did you pick up another one or it turned you off all together? I mean I’ve had 2 Chevy Tahoe’s a Silverado and duramax no issues. My buddy got a Silverado and 1 thing after another and they lemon lawed it. So it does happen with every manufacture

Yes, it does happen, which is why Lemon laws exist.

i haven't bought another one yet. It took over a month to get my money back and the loan paid off. I want to but the logic in me says to either wait until they start showing up on the used market and have depreciated a bit, or until the next generation. Tesla and i have a complicated relationship. Emotionally i want to love their vehicles i want to see them as luxury and quality. Logically i see cost cutting measures and high technology which works if the product is perfect, which in reality it is not. Mass production and quality control is hard. Getting enough people to buy into the idea that a product is great and will get better with time is Teslas strength. Even if those who bought super early are already finding their product to be obsolete (2013 model s owners)

2013 of most vehicles are obsolete ?. Hey I have a buddy that got an early S and he has supercharging for life so it ain’t all bad . No one can predict anything, you can end up waiting till the cows come home or you can take the leap and it works out. It’s all a chance. My cousin got one of the first M3 performance and paid like 100k. He lost but who cares. cars unless 40 years old are not a good investment.’ I had a 2019 m3 I lost in the divorce and the day she moved out I bought a 2023 M3 in like December last year? And sure enough new body style came out 2024. What ever it is what it is. But point is the second you think you’re winning they come out with a new something to hold the value and drop the value of the old one. Chevy and ford change body styles like every 2 years now to get people more often then they use to and it works.

I have a CT and wouldn't accept this at all. Being in the shop for over two weeks that early on is ridiculous. I'd ask them to fix it on their own time and give me a new CT without issue and see what happens.
