I ordered a spare tire kit early August. Today, Tesla messaged me to reschedule my appointment for the fourth time stating "parts unavailable" each time. Since August, I have seen the spare tire open for sale and then sell out several times. Why would they open them for sale if they cannot even fill outstanding orders?

Unless you just want to use credit there are a lot of takeoffs on eBay at reasonable prices to choose from. Tie-downs and jack bottles from harbor freight. It just seems a painful process to get them from Tesla.

Sorry but was pretty painless for me. I used credits and ordered when it came into stock last time. Got the appt to install in ~2 weeks. No mess no fuss.

Yeah. I guess that is what I'll do. I already have the jack and tools. I just prefer my spares to match the tires on the truck but I don't care *that* much. I just cancelled the order (was not a store credit purchase so no complications).

Ordered in August and delivery day was September 20ish. Got message 2 days before scheduled appointment saying tire was not available. Rescheduled for October 18th. Day before appointment received message saying they had the tire but no jack and other parts of the kit. I said just give me the tire and call me when the other stuff comes in. They said they are not allowed to do that because all the kits have barcodes and once they are assigned they need to be scanned as a FULL Spare Tire Kit matched to your VIN. Finally received complete kit the first week of November. On a side note…… it also took over two hours to install due to the tire not being mounted or balanced when I showed up for the SCHEDULED appointment. It was a real shit show.

I recommend the purchase of some type of spare and a quality jack. I was at a local fishing lake yesterday and a stick went through my sidewall. No fixing it. I had no spare and no jack.

thankful I was near a buddy’s house. He let me borrow his high lift jack (I don’t recommend using one). It was unstable. It was just enough to get the flat off the truck.

My wife came to my rescue with my f150 full of tools. I was able to use a bottle jack to lift the truck properly. I used a 2x4 between the jack and the underside of the CT. I didn’t want to put the head of the jack directly on the jack point of the CT 2x4 fit the lift point well.

i drove the flat tire to discount tire and purchased a BF Goodrich K03. I saw others were buying K03 and DT had one in stock on a Saturday.

I have sense purchased a quality bottle jack and OEM rim from an auto recycler here in Texas. I will be putting another K03 on the rim to match my other K03. I will use the extra OEM TIRE/wheel as a spare when in road trips. I also keep two small 2x4s in the frunk to raise the jack a little and stabilize the lift point well.

Hahahaha yeah I'm one of the unlucky Spare tire purchases in early August. Seems like that was the time when they ran out of "the missing part ". They just cancelled me yesterday 11/30 the 4th time for my Monday 12/2 service appointment. Have to get one elsewhere for my road trip from NY to Florida next week.
Already have a bottle jack and a lug wrench I just wanted to keep everything uniform and yes cribbing, always have something to put under a jack in case you end up changing a flat tire on the side of the road and you are on grass or dirt. With the weight of the CT (3-1/2tons+/-) heaviest weight I've hoisted was 400 ton. I suggest 2- 2"x12"x12" so the jack doesn't get driven into the ground. Now when all that is in our CT taking up space we will probably never get a flat!

I was fortunate enough to have the expected purchase and installation experience. I totally agree having a chunk of 2x12 is a great addition or one of those camper leveling blocks for those not on pavement wheel changes.

I've got one, it's nice. Nice cover to keep it clean, 2 extra d rings installed, tpms ready to go, nice tool kit with jack. It's honestly easily worth the 1250. But by now there are probably cheaper options.

I consider a spare essential for this vehicle because 1) it is off road capable so you could choose a gnarly path and 2) ain't nobody gonna have a matching tire or wheel in stock ever.

I got mine with my credit and it was within a week of ordering and they gave me appointment options. I took it in and they even gave me a loaner for the three hours while they installed it. The install and tools with it are great. I feel much better now that if I have a flat, AAA can change my tire and I won’t need to tow the truck. For me it’s a safety issue.

I got my in late July, they mounted on the back of the truck. We do lot of off-road driving and make me feel better to have it. Still waiting for compressor from Tesla. Using my own but it’s too big and ugly when strapped in the bad and taking lot of space.

my issue with this
I plan to weld up a custom tire carrier that holds it as close as possible to the tonneau so I can still slide 4x8 sheets underneath. It's not like I need to see out the back window.
