I absolutely hate iOS with a passion, but using a smartwatch to control the vehicle is a perk I must admit..
Yeah but isn't the iwatch useless without pairing it with an iPhone? Tbh, I would buy an iwatch if I could get all the functionality with an android phone. Mainly because the health features are much better than android wear options.

Lots of good stuff this time! Way better than last years Tesla Christmas update.

I’ll use the set arrival energy on road trips. Cross traffic alerts are nice to have. I’m interested to see how much bigger the rear view camera image is.

Weather overlay is a good idea too.

Biggest one is watching dashcam clips and saving to the phone. That’s been needed for a long time.
Yeah, last year was pretty darn weak.

Never owned a Tesla before, but I was not aware I'd have to become an iphone pleb to enjoy my CT..

Can previous Tesla owners confirm that the company prefers Iphone over android? Would like to know so I can make switch, sooner than later..

By the way, there is ton of cool stuff in this upcoming update..
Elon has had frequent beefs with Apple including over advertising on X. He’s also ranted about how they aren’t innovating anymore and how their products are boring. At one point he threatened to make his own phone to compete. That said, as with most things in business, they go where the money is.

Us “Apple plebs” tend to be a little bit more well-heeled then your average android user.

??You can fight me about that if you’d like, but whatever the reason, as usual, Apple gets features and such before android regularly.

What I normally see is android owners complaining when some new feature on in the car’s firmware also requires the app to be updated to work and sometimes they are several weeks behind in getting their app updated.

Sorry, I could have been more clear in my comment. I haven't seen any engineer come out and specify, but knowing what I do about industrial safety design, it would be extremely unlikely for Tesla to ever enable remote lowering or raising due to crushing injury or death.

The absolute last headline they need is: "child crushed under cybertruck due to suspension feature"
Your can remote control the entire vehicle in a parking lot full of people. I’m sure they could raise and lower it remotely. I’m sure ASS will raise to drive, to pick you up, and drop to entry mode when it gets to you.

as an iOS developer, it’s also much easier(cheaper) to developer for iOS. Our sister team that builds the same app we, it for android has twice the staffing. Also having to develop and test for all the variants of android on watch is a pain. On watch OS, you build it once, and it works on the most popular watch in the world.

Don’t think so. Elon doesn’t like Tim Apple
I have both ecosystems (iPhone is for business). Don't switch just because of a couple of niche features. Their UX is archaiac and completely unintuitive. I get infuriated using the phone daily because of their tactics to lock people in.

Android features take longer to certify because there are thousands of hardware/software profiles out on the market instead of just a handful like the iPhone.

Sure, but your vehicle putting around a parking lot with your eyes on the 360° cameras + the FSD safeties in place are quite different than raising and lowering a vehicle remotely; of which it is not possible for you to check clearances.

The Apple Watch works fine without an iPhone... as a watch. It needs to be paired to your phone to use messaging/phone functions. It would also need WiFi access for anything requiring cloud services.

There is a version of the watch that has cellular built-in, so it can function independently of a phone, but that requires a cellular data plan.

I have the cellular plan on my Apple Ultra.. convenience as a nice backup and when I’m walking the neighborhood or simply hiking or riding the bicycle.

I also often run to the garage to load the car or retrieve something, only to realize that I left the phone in the bedroom… but the watch is always on the wrist.

Looking forward to this new access point..

Love the little tidbits, but what I really want is a 500 mls/charge range. Tesla, when will the battery upgrade be available?

Now they need to create the same functionality for the 80% of the population that have Androids.

Read the terms of service for using the Apple car play or Android auto. Tesla will never integrate with them unless they drop the requirements for giving them full access to the cars telemetry.

Which of course, is worth billions if not trillions to Tesla.
