Stock Wheel covers on different tires?!

So now that they fixed the wheel covers and they don’t rub the stock tires anymore, has anyone successfully changed out the tire, but kept the same rim and wheel cover? I know the stock tire has grooves for the wheel cover, but it seems like the new cover version sticks out and flares out enough that it might fit on other tires as well. I want to change my tires to winter tires and want to know if someone has done this before because I love the stock wheel covers.

I have not changed to another tire but can't see why the wheel covers wouldn't work with other tires as long as you're using the OEM wheel that is made for the wheel covers and a replacement tire with the same size.

Did you have any luck? I happen to love the stock cyber covers as well..
