Unknown sensor on stock AS tires

Does anyone know what this is on the inside of the stock Pirelli AS tires? I just recently had my tire replaced with Bridgestone Dueler ATs, and kept one of the stock tire as a spare. I noticed this device attached on the inside. The tire tech said that he thinks these are tire pressure sensors. If so, why would they be attached to the inside of the tire?

I have a thread on this. It's a cerebrum sensor. While it will eventually be capable of reading tire temp, pressure, tire wear, balance, etc.

On the CT it is only acting a secondary pressure (tpms) system. You can swap tires and get them transferred or go without. I called cerebrum and CT is only able to read tpms data from these.

Thank you for the detailed answer. I did not transfer them, as I didn't know what they were. Plus the TPMS sensors are working fine. I did have punctures in 3 of my 4 Pirelli's. Luckily none of them were at the site of this sensor. I think the tire shop would have thrown up their hands.

If you buy them from the service center, then they should come with new ones. On the side of the tire is a "C" mark indicating it is a "Cyber Tire" with the Cerebrum sensors.
