There are a couple of new light shows included, but I don't think that one is, at least not in the 8 part version.

The vehicles do NOT talk to each other. The clocks are synced to the same time server (so within a few milliseconds of each other), there are as many different separate light show parts as there are different parts to be played (all created to fit together, like arranging music for multiple instruments), with each vehicle playing the version for its part, and they all start at the same time on schedule. One could carry that as far as the sound too (different sound files for each part); someone did dueling banjos that way.
