Today my beast is in for service on the wiper issue and I asked the service manager to let me know if my tires needed rotating because I just turned 12,000 miles on the truck.

He measured the rears at between 6 and 7 and measured the fronts at between 3 and 4.

He said he thought that was odd because typically the rears wear faster than the fronts. He suggested leaving them for now to see how they continue to wear. I thought I'd ask here how other Beast owners are seeing their tires wear, are your fronts or your rears wearing more?

Thanks in advance for any data points !

Mine’s only at about 3,400 miles so I can’t say for sure yet, but historically on my fast cars the rears have definitely worn out faster. Very strange. Do more launches to get those babies worn evenly lol

During normal operation the vehicle acts like a FWD. Tires should be rotated around 6k mi. It’s also a good idea to measure across the tread to potentially identify alignment problems.

If you do frequent launches, the rears should wear more. Considerable weight transfer to the back on launches.

Just a suggestion from 12 years of model S ownership:

rotate your tires FAR more frequently if you want them to last.

i got my CB not long ago but plan to rotate the tires about every 3-4k miles.

even on my MS I have chewed through 4 brand new tires in 7 months to the point of needing a full set replacement with less than 8k miles on them.

FWIW. YMMV.

Cheers

Put your truck in CHILL mode - your tires and your wallet will love you.... My CT has 7,000 miles and my tires look like they will go 15,000.

As I own AMG Mercedes...getting more that 8,000 miles from tires is a big win!.

I do normally rotate tires more often than 12,000 miles but with the wear being greater in the front I was questioning whether I should do so and was wondering what sort of wear pattern front to back that others are seeing with their Cyberbeasts. I will go ahead and swap front to back next time I get mine up in the air, but again wondering if others are seeing the same pattern...

Why would he say that? Front does most of the steering.

I would keep the tires with more tread in the back. You don’t want to be in that over steer then under steer problem.

This makes sense on the beast as they are primarily front wheel drive, and are putting down the majority of your daily drive torque on the front tires, unless you’re getting on it enough to need the rear motors to supplement. The permanent magnet motor is used as the primary drive motor in whatever vehicle it’s in. This is in the front of the beasts, while the rear has two induction motors.

The AWD trucks are primarily rear wheel drive, and only use the front motor as a supplement, when needed, so their increased tire wear should be on the back. The permanent magnet motor is in the rear of the AWD non-beasts.

I agree! It’s been so hard for me to get out of Sports mode. The Beast is so much fun in Sports mode. I guess I have to learn my lesson the hard way $$!

OP - just curious, which mode have you been using for most of your driving?

Why use sport when beast mode exists?

Why use sport when beast mode exists?
True! I have this protocol that I follow with all performance vehicles I buy. I don’t use high end modes by default till I’m completely accustomed to driving in medium modes. For example - I didn’t use sports mode in my Ducati for six months till I was fully familiar with the driving dynamics. These performance vehicles are very powerful, and controlling my urge to speed takes practice and patience. I’m sure I’ll get multiple speeding tickets or wear of tires/brake pads in six months if I switch to Beast all the time before I’m ready! I did Chill for two weeks. I’ll stick with Sports for 3-4 months, and then I’ll switch to Beast once I know I’m confident handling the Beast! If I’m putting too much wear and tear on tires with Beast, I’ll switch back to Sports. I might not use Chill.
