Cybertruck is waterproof enough to serve as a boat to cross rivers, lakes & calm seas -- confirms Musk 🚤

That's a good idea for shallow water where you aren't floating. Not seeing it. I have a ton of experience boating on rivers with jet propulsion. There's no way to have enough control without inboard jets. Try it with your hitch-mounted prop drive and you're going to lose your prop and float...

Cybertruck is waterproof enough to serve as a boat to cross rivers, lakes & calm seas -- confirms Musk 🚤

And how do you plan to mount this on the CT? How are the steering linkages going to attach and be controlled from the cabin?

Cybertruck is waterproof enough to serve as a boat to cross rivers, lakes & calm seas -- confirms Musk 🚤

Nope. Wrong. This is super dangerous thinking. Just because the damn thing floats does NOT allow it to cross streams / rivers. If you try this, you *will* be swept away and end up losing your truck, or your life. Even worse, some rescue team will have to risk *their* lives to come rescue you...

F-150 Lightning Review - Throttle House

Entertaining thread with a lot of good points made. I too am I really curious to witness how the design/styling/technology of the cybertruck ages over time. Is it going to be the next Delorean? That would probably mean it shot too close to the sun and was rejected by the masses (or perhaps too...

Is this a look into the future?

EV's are only going to help the grid if households have the required safety/switching equipment installed to send power from the car to the grid. Since that equipment is expensive to install, it seems unlikely that this ever takes off on the scale needed to support the grid. Maybe if building...

Under the new Biden EV credit proposal, will the Cybertruck qualify for Federal Tax Credit?

CT models that cost under $80,000 *will* qualify for $3,750 in credit, assuming your income is under $150k (or $300k if married). They also *might* qualify for an extra $3,750 if tesla can meet the battery material sourcing requirements. Currently nobody knows for sure if they will meet the...

Have Idra press parts started to be delivered to Austin?

According to Joe Tegtmeyer, the delivery was a DMG MORI milling machine that is used to finish the castings after they come off the press.

Have Idra press parts started to be delivered to Austin?

According to the video, the wooden crates went into a different part of the building...not the casting area. There was a much larger delivery (with a black cover over it) that DID go to the casting area. Here's that machine uncovered, being backed into the Casting area. Can anybody tell what it is?

Will Tesla Insurance cover Cybertruck in all states?

I made probably 3 claims during this time with no issues. US Insurance coverage applies in all 50 states.

Will Tesla Insurance cover Cybertruck in all states?

For years I had a vehicle registered in Alaska, but insured in another state...nobody seemed to care. What's to stop someone from doing this? The car doesn't even need to be registered to be insured. And to register, you have to show proof of insurance but that tells them nothing about which...

Cybertruck aerodynamics drag coefficient = 0.39 Cd in new simulation

I'd love to see a CFD simulation that compares the CT with vault cover open vs closed. I agree the bed is so protected that open vault cover might be totally fine. Those side wings are awesome. Again, I'd argue the reason the side wings exist is for aerodynamics, not for looks. The look/style...

Cybertruck aerodynamics drag coefficient = 0.39 Cd in new simulation

I think you may be misreading things. I see the following in your links: "As expected, we could see massive flow separation behind the cabin space and then again flow separation at the end of the cargo bay. " and " The basic shape of a pickup truck is not the most rewarding one when it comes to...

Cybertruck aerodynamics drag coefficient = 0.39 Cd in new simulation

This is why the adjustable air suspension is so important. Crank it down to the lowest level for highway cruising to increase range. Crank it up when you go off-road. Super important in an EV Truck! It seems as though the published Cd values for other trucks are minimum values achieved at...

Cybertruck aerodynamics drag coefficient = 0.39 Cd in new simulation

It's a good design... optimized for range. *All* electric trucks should be optimized for range. Sadly they are not. Other companies care more about the look of their truck matching some old paradigm.

EV “small battery” quickness betters Big LiON battery…

One nice thing about EV's is that (unlike ICE vehicles) they breed efficiency. Let's say the next battery breakthrough is very far out. Then in the meantime, the only way to reduce battery size (and therefore base cost) is to either A) make the vehicle consume less energy per mile, or B) Reduce...
