I've been working in the EV battery testing space for 10 years and was driving a Ford Lightning/MY. after watching Munro's battery tear down I purchased a CT 5 days later. Incredible engineering. No one is even close.
What did you like most about this battery? I was wondering... The battery on my Model 3 doesn't freeze, but the one on my truck does, and sometimes the snowflake indicator appears.

I began to suspect that the battery in the truck was not modified.

It's not customary for us to drink alcohol. Drinking alcohol is considered bad manners, and such people are not very well-liked in society.

The Cybertruck uses a structural battery pack with tremendous mass, but the Model 3 has a lighter pack with a floor pan beneath it. Maybe that makes the difference?

We have three Model 3's from 2018 to 2024 and all of them get the snowflake icon at similar temperatures as my Cybertruck. I think there could be Model 3s in other countries that have batteries with lower energy density but with more cold tolerance.

I drove the same route in a Model 3 and a truck, and the latter constantly produces snowflakes. Could this be due to the non-standard bumper? The oncoming wind is cooling the battery significantly?

I think the oncoming air flow cools the truck's battery.

I doubt it's the bumper letting more cooling air on the battery because there is an air gap between the battery and the under-fairing. I was thinking you might have a Model 3 with batteries that are more cold tolerant.

This is surprising, since I bought a Model 3 from a Tesla dealership in Texas. And then he sent her to St. Petersburg

Good to know, that's probably not it then, unless somehow you got a pre-2022 Model 3 with LG batteries from Freemont production that was shipped to Texas. The LG batteries were known to be a bit more cold tolerant due to a higher cobalt MCN chemistry. But those were never installed in Texas production.

That's interesting information, I didn't even know that. I have a 2025 Model 3. :) You know a lot about different types of batteries. Do you work at Tesla?

Nope, never worked at Tesla, due to various tear-downs it's public information (if you can find it). Tesla has used a lot of battery variations over the years, especially as covid supply chain problems hit. After COVID Elon even commented that it was a lot of overhead to have so many different battery variations in their vehicles (because each variation required optimization of different charge curves, different thermal management, etc). All of this is largely invisible to the end user and matters very little except to Tesla who has to manage and analyze all the data separately for each minor variation.
