No my Plaid isn’t new I’ve had it since September 2023 direct factory order. The GPU thing is not new. That happened in 2025. It’s one of the reasons that I cite for my car being the pinnacle of everything that Tesla ever put in a Model S. What’s new to my car is that I just added the track package which updates brakes wheels and tires and unlocks the 200 mph top speed which is capped at 162mph or 175mph depending upon when you bought your model S. Mine was 175 before.

It uses an AMD Ryzen embedded APU for the normal car-computer workload, and a separate AMD RDNA 2 discrete GPU for heavier graphics and gaming tasks. AMD stated that the RDNA 2 graphics side provides up to 10 teraflops of compute, which is why Tesla marketed the refreshed Model S/X as having console-class gaming power.

This was discontinued in 2025, so not really new news. It seems like to change your recently is that they dropped the size of the SSD or memory or something I haven’t really paid super close attention to the specific details of the change because it doesn’t affect me.
So do you happen to know what months/years that Tesla sold HW4 and still had the GPU etc? Maybe I can find a deal on a used one but will want to limit the search to specific months.

I believe HW4 was introduced right before I bought mine. It might have been as early as March but if you go with mid 2023 forward it’ll be pretty safe obviously you’re gonna wanna check the vehicle if you land on one. To get both HW4 and the top spec comp. components I think you’re probably looking at something manufactured between March 2023 to early 2025.

Just know that everybody has figured this out both for X and S so that seems to be what everybody is looking for and thus pretty hard to find. Partner in my law firm was looking for one and every time I look on the forums people are just having to settle for HW3 like he did.

When you add the track package and all of the features that my car ended up with that’s why I keep calling it a unicorn. There’s probably somewhere between 1000 and maximum of 3000 similarly spec’ed ‘best of the best with honors’ variants out there for the whole globe. I really feel like I hit the lottery. But it’s definitely a IYKYK situation.

Literally the only thing my car doesn’t have is the updated plaid seats which I’m choosing not to get because I’m not really tracking the car and there reportedly super uncomfortable, the updated front fascia which I don’t consider to be an improvement I like the hollowed out channel in mine more than the closed off redesign, and the accent lights which I don’t see as particularly desirable I think that will age poorly overall.

I have always said if I ever do get another ice car it will be American muscle. Dreaming of a carbon ford gt but vettes have always caught my attention. The C5 was the classic one I always saw growing up so I would probably go with that.

I always dreamed of an american muscle car, which c8 do you have? What things does the corvette do that you like better or worse than the plaid?
Hey, great question! The simple answer is what it does better is: being a 2 door hardtop convertible V8 coupe! That’s really all I’ve ever wanted in a sports car. When my mom came home (when I was about 6 or 7) with her brand new MGB convertible in something like ‘76 that was it for me.

One of my first cars when I was a teenager was a then 12 to 13-year-old ‘74 banana yellow Camaro and I never stopped being a Chevy guy since then. First car I can ever remember lusting after was a C3 Corvette. First one I ever bought was my 2014 C7 which I gave to my dad and then I replaced it with my 2021 C8 both are Z51s. I’m all about electric cars and future tech, but there’s little in life that’s better than cold starting an American V8 with two seats wrapped around it!

There’s my dad in the old one and me and the new out at the Las Vegas motor Speedway couple years ago. I built them both just like you could get them when introduced in 1953. Any color you wanted, so long as it was white with red interior!

You can see my little signature carbon flash painted gas tank door on both. Dealer is kind enough to do that for me every time I get a new one, can’t wait for my C9!!!

Given their design they seem like they are Cybertruck only but who knows, someone should ask Wes though...
Regarding this, I’m pretty sure I’m correct in what I said previously. If you look at them closely they look almost identical to the refreshed plaid seats that Tesla eventually launched (headrest and overall the general shape) the only difference is the cut outs for the five point harness. This seat was 100% designed for the plaid plus that they eventually abandoned. So, that’s why Wes said “not the first” plaid seats in a cyber truck because I think they used them when they were testing the cyber truck for Baja etc. The plaid plus was supposed to be a response to the lucid sapphire— not exactly sure why Tesla decided to abandon it (possibly after they saw that lucid wasn’t going to be able to make the car for anything less than $250,000), but that active aero trunk lid spoiler was giving me the colds sweats!!!

Oh I remember that spoiler now.... I wonder how many cars were built with it before they scrapped it? That might be a true unicorn, a Plaid+ mule out there somewhere... :) Thanks again for the info, will keep an eye out and do a little asking around.... I certainly would not want uncomfortable seats in my Cybertruck, but if there were some weekend fun seats to throw in for track/autocross days then sure why not... I used to have an extra pair of GT3 carbon buckets for my old Cayman before I got my GT4 that came with them.

That’s the price for all 4 (5 technically) + installation. I was debating getting them in my ‘23 Plaid after just getting it back from having the track pack installed. Consensus is they are really uncomfortable, though they may work well for their primary purpose in terms of giving you more lateral support on track days. I think I’ll pass.

Pretty happy with the rest of the upgrades the handling is absolutely amazing after the firmware and suspension updates. It whips around very much like my old M3P did which is amazing for such a big car, steering is insanely precise. Had the Zero G wheels ceramic coated bronze. Thrilled with the final result, just got it back today!

And just like that, they were gone. The track pack is officially unobtainium now.

Sadly the bolsters are a bit much for my fiancé so I went back to the model y white seats I had in it, if anyone wants the plaid seats let me know!
Glad I dodged that bullet. It seems to be a universal complaint that they’re just not comfortable. Also I think there’s just too much black in the design. The ultra white interior is one of the best things about the model S. Reminds me of my grandmother’s cutlass supreme from the 70’s.

Since I'm a small guy it's fine for me but any female with wide thighs might be uncomfortable

Congratulations, Sir. 🫡 You made the right choice. Ditch the seats, secure the Badonkadonk!

I thought about this because I wanted white seats but not covers. They only offer this for the front seats, so I'd have to go with backseat covers to be matchy-matchy. The cover guys only sell theirs in sets, so 2 go unused. The other issue is ANC speakers in the headrest. You have to mod these to make room for them. Cutting foam....
