So what glasses characteristics make your eyes not visible? Do we know?
is it polarization ? Mirror coating and so forth?
Yep, most mirror type coatings.

Every Tesla does that already. It's not a mod.
He's talking about folks who add a clip on device that automatically scrolls the volume wheel up and down. Not only can Tesla easily detect this device, but when they do their account gets marked as a person who is trying to use safety feature defeat devices; which ironically put the nag system into overdrive lmao

How do you know this?

Note: not intended to screech "SOURCE?!!!" in a deranged manner, just genuinely interested in the raw data that led to this conclusion.

super easy to self-test. take a trip with FSD and try a few different lenses. If it cannot see your eyes, you will likely get at least a few steering wheel nags (if not several).

the cabin camera is accurate enough to see exactly where your pupils are focused lol. also, most people have forgotten that about the in-cabin radar. Ask Grok for details, but it's sensitive enough to measure your heartbeat.

which means it can resolve your eyelids too 😁

Yeah, I've got rx glasses I only wear at night ... but Sir Angular does not like them. I don't recall if I got the anti-reflective coating on them or not. Also possibly the top bar of the glasses is in the blocking position for the nanny cam. So many more 'move the wheel' nags when I'm wearing them. So I don't. Not exactly a victory for safety. Tho FSD prob is safer than I am.

It's called "Tesla FSD Autopilot Assist Auxiliary Chip AP Nag Elimination Mode". It would seem easy to detect due to zero steering wheel input. No idea if your account gets flagged for defeating their safety devices.

I've driven back from Naples to Plantation, Florida, via I-75, where it's pitch-black late at night after a 10-hour day of work. When FSD catches me with an Attention Alert, I do stop at one of the many "Rest Areas," which are completely pitch-black except for maybe one street lamp in the middle. I never get out because the wildlife 50 to 100 feet away can be deadly, not to mention a possible lurker waiting to murder someone in the darkness of night (this does go through your mind, believe it or not). So, I heed the warnings from FSD.

Aside from this, I had an extremely close call that I believe FSD absolutely saved me and my CT from a horrible accident on I-595 here in South Florida about two weeks ago.

DOT had coned off the exit in a really weird way for a two-lane off-ramp I use all the time, and I was already in the right-hand lane, so I had to change to the left lane to avoid hitting the cones. Low and behold a driver going at least 85 to 90 mph comes up on the right side in the emergency lane to pass me on the right while I am changing to the left lane (FSD was not engaged). I did not even see him because I was looking in my left-rearview mirror while merging into the left lane. My CT swerved hard to the left at 65 mph to avoid an impending rear-end or sideswipe collision with the upcoming driver. He got past me and the other car in front of me, only to hard left back onto the highway. I truly believe my truck would have been severely damaged had the collision avoidance system not taken over.

It was the hardest sharp left I have ever felt in my 140K miles of driving one of my two Teslas in my life, but it was so quick and firm with the avoidance move, it more than paid for my $132K purchase (all in) in September of 2024. Thanks, Tesla.

...
Just checking MY understanding: FSD=off, but the CT performed an evasion maneuver anyway?

The vehcile has a set of critical overrides that are in place even if FSD isn't actively engaged. It will even fight your control over the steering wheel if has a high enough confidence that a critical collision is imminent.

100% correct. FSD was not engaged, but all the safety features available are "enabled" in my configuration.

This is EXACTLY what happened. I obviously had my hands on the steering wheel, and it all happened so fast and forcefully that I couldn't have responded fast enough to even stop it. It was exactly the right maneuver to avoid an impending collision. I suspect the upcoming driver was drunk or high on drugs (Superman mentality), at least that is what would explain it all.

I could not process what had just happened while it was happening, but within five seconds, I fully realized what had just happened. I forgot to record the event because it didn't occur to me since this had never happened before.

Guess I got lucky with my sunglasses because I can go hours without a nag alert. I have a stiff neck though and will often stretch it by putting my head head to my left shoulder. Even with my eyes open the attention monitoring hates it and I get the grab the wheel warning pretty quick.

Concerning the late at night nag and warning. I got put on time out "FSD no longer available you have four more events" was driving two lane highway at 9:30 PM no traffic and only only 6 miles to the house. I was not sleepy or drowsy just staring straight ahead fully focused on the road. I decided to really be careful and just make sure I'm fully focused on the road, dont close eyes, look down, drop head down, just stay focused on the road wide eyed. I continued to get the warning until it put me on "time out" . from now on I make sure I look around, glance up at the camera etc. no more problem.

concerning the steering wheel torque or pressure, If for some reason it comes off of FSD the truck can veer off in the direction you are exerting the pressure. One must be alert and steer back into the center of the lane.

Not too sure about a “Cat nap?!”

“Danger Will Robinson!”

It was raining last night and FSD swerved to avoid a large puddle in right side of the road, why can’t it do that for potholes? LOL.

I drove home 8 hours and experienced something similar. Got home at 3AM. During the drive, about half way, I was getting tired and I know I kept closing my eyes. I was fighting it but it happened a number of times. FSD kept going. No warning.
Pulled out a pillow at the next charger and caffeined up. Didn’t have it happen again, but I was very surprised I didn’t get any nagging from it. While I wouldn’t say I took a cat nap I know my eyes closed a few times with no warnings. Also interstate with very few cars around and straight roads.
I have been in that situation without FSD before and it is scary. FSD definitely gave me a different level of peace of mind while driving home tired.
I am not recommending this at all. Just stating that I experienced something similar. I am on 14.3.2.
