Recently saw a video created by an experienced Tesla Repair Shop which reported a scathing commentary regarding how poorly the 2024 Cybertruck as made. As I am an early adopter vehicle 3200 about, I have had my troubles with the replacement of the tonneau cover and few other small items but nothing since then even though I only have 11,000 miles on the vehicle. I am curious what our cybertruck community has to say about that. I do have a friend who returned his under the CA lemon law. My signature 2016 Model X as outlined in the same video was a repair nightmare. What I learned was never to buy first or even 2nd production again. Your feedback appreciated.

I have been overjoyed with mine for 2 years.

had a couple of recalls, the major one being the PCS. Since I'm not a retard like some of the others on this forum, I simple scheduled an appointment and they took great care of me.

The Cybertruck is a first of it's kind with TONS of new tech. It's a bold move, and so far it seems to have paid off greatly for them.

Ignore the idiots who don't understand what it means to be an early adopter.

I had a oil pump problem with my truck at 12k miles, Tesla had it towed and fixed within 5 days shere I added another 7 line items that were annoyances. I paid nothing and had 2 trips total for all to be resolved. My Ford Lightning Lariat I owned before my CT sat for 2 months before they moved on it and lemon law’d after 3 months total. Point being shit happens with first gen products, Tesla is no stranger to poor production quality but do great at remedying shit. One thing that is kind of shitty is they haven’t recalled PCS issues, but other than that things seem smokth after the 30k vin range.

Even with the leaky tonneau and PCS failure, I'd by another CT in a minute if my Foundation CB got wrecked.

PCS was the only major issue, and they replaced it quickly with no questions asked. I am happy to pay the early adopter's tax for something as cutting edge (heh, literally) as the CT is.

When they come out with camera washers and HW5/6 in a future version, I'm going to seriously struggle with trading it in because I feel like I've been through the culture wars with it.

Not going to waste any time on the video because there's nothing they could possibly teach me, but maybe it's a trick question/bate and switch? My CT has definitely required more service than any other Telsa I've owned, but that's relative and meaningless without context.

They are collectively the best cars I've ever owned and in a class of their own when it comes to reliability. I have visibility on over a dozen cars and the have all been trouble free for 6 years going back to my Wife's 2020 MY.

The CT would be an outlier compared to those other cars (which cover every permutation of S3XY), but still be well above ave. for any ICE car I or anyone in the same circle of Tesla owners has ever had. So, shrug.

Apple taught me this lesson with the iphone. Makes sense that something that much more complicated would have the same issues, compound that with a company that uses its early adopters as beta testers and you get where we are. Its why I waited and also chose to not spend the extra money on foundation series.

this is why tesla is the best EV company out there, its also why you dont hear about rivian owners needing to repeatedly take advantage of lemon laws. And its also the reason why the million pre-reg reservations will never get fulfilled. That being said, whenever anyone asks me about EVs, I wholeheartedly recommend Tesla over any brand.

I own a HW3 M3 and an 2025 AWD CT 73xxx VIN. The M3 was the best car I had ever driven before I drove my CT. Im glad i waited because all of the issues that the YT influencers have had, I have not had, aside from the easily fixable tonneau sealing issue, a frunk closure issue, and a drivers side door issue. Im just waiting for the inevitable PCS failure/recall.

All high tech companies, especially Tesla arent all good or all bad. its not a binary black/white thing. You can accelerate an entire industry away from internal combustion, and make individual cars that are total and complete lemons. Both of those extremes and all the shades of gray in between can all be true at the same time.

I loved my Jeep Wrangler 4xe. It was the Swiss Army knife of trucks… until it collapsed under the weight of recalls. A 3-month battery replacement that left me driving a loaner minivan was the day I committed to buying a Cybertruck.

My feedback, nearly every Gen 1, and subsequently the first year of any new Gen vehicle has “issues”…

Except that my 2024 Cybertruck (delivered July 2024, factory fresh here in Austin) had zero issues. Not even one. And I tried to create issues, I punished my baby. It proved resilient, strong, destroyed everything in its path, including my garage door, garage wall, curb concrete, and other car doors that tried to ding me only to bend against an immovable object.

The only reason I would return my Cybertruck is to get a Cyberbeast. If you’re that worried, just trade up to a 2026 build.

Great to hear that. I can't trade up as I paid cash for my foundation a total of $114,000 with CA tax. Would take too much of a hit. But wonderful to read these comments about CT. While I am still pissed I didn't get the Tri motor $69k that I waited for for almost five years. It was my decision to pull the trigger and proceed with the purchase.

I thank all of CT owners who responded to my question. Great group.

I have had my CT for 18 months and use it for heavy construction hauling and other Reno stuff. It has been flawless with no issues in the least. Except when somebody threw a box of screws in front of me. The truck pulled over safely and probably saved my bacon. The bad guy was caught and charged with domestic terrorism. His life is basically over. Political nutbar. Even my black camo wrap remains flawless. Replaced the tires with high end all weather Michelins. They made a huge difference.

I love my CT 91k VIN, sorted most of the issues drives like no other vehicle… the skateboard is a 10/10.

But I do believe the extreme styling was not necessary or poorly executed, stainless is super cool and worry free for me but the shape could have been better because no matter how you slice it proportions are off and that makes the truck ugly.

The decision to make this truck was more emotional than thoughtful and it shows.

I still appreciate it styling wise for being an exercise.

I totally agree with this take haha. I find myself loving or hating it, and more than once ive told someone that the best place to be is in the drivers seat so you dont have to look at it lol.

but in some lighting conditions, its striking:

Copy paste everything said by mostly everyone. 95% great experience, 5% issues fixed by Tesla under warranty.

As far as issues and reliability;
My third gen Lexus GS eats 1qt of oil every few months. Cost to fix - around 6k, no thanks.
My Subaru Ascent first gen - oil leaks after 4 years and 95k miles, dealer did point it out but said its minor. Next oil change after 100k warranty is over - it will be 7k to rebuild engine. No thanks.
My Corolla Fourth gen - after 100k same issue of drinking oil.

Point is, even seasoned models have issues so of course a first gen will have some issues.

But with FSD, no other vehicle comes close.

Over 14k on my 2024 FSCT. So far, flawless. It drove me (via FSD) from Seattle area to Florida & back. Great trip! I like the styling, reminds me of my days in the military (USAF-Retired). Some of Uncle Sam's vehicles resemble this somewhat, but the CT is far ahead and worth it. I would buy another.
