This is just the first prototype and the second prototype will have more features and improved details!
Can it work with an open bed rack like I have? Or does it require closed-in bed rack?

That is by no means slim! The Mars Aeroblade is 3.5".

Where did you even see the dimensions for how slim it is? I must have missed that.

Also, the Mars AeroBlade only works if you're a hobbit (or dwarf).

So we’re going for more of a Gandalf tent then here?

I have this TopOak "Extra Spacious" version of the Vision and it's still too short for me. I have to sleep diagonally if alone, and if with someone else my toes get cramped on the angled pitch of the interior roof line (inside the entrance). This is admittedly also exacerbated by the fact that I am lifted 3" to 4" higher on an Exped mattress, because who the hell is going to settle for the measely 1.5" matress it come with?!?!?!

Of course. The design goals are completely different here too. If you’re going for a camper setup it has to account for the length of a passthrough between the two levels. It also looks like it attempts to capture the entire length of the rack in terms of storage space.
The aeroblade is an apples and oranges comparisos. If your goal is thinnest minimalist tent it’s a nifty piece of engineering.but I know that’s not my most important goal. There is a Goldilocks place where stuff is small and efficient but also comfortable.

Yes. One is for hobitts/dwarfs and one is for tall wizards. But it's the limited market for tall wizards that is getting overlooked. The same things happened with cars with limited head room for 30+ years with all the Japanese cars not being big enough for tall Americans until they finally realized there was a lot of people in America taller than them and they started increasing their headroom (eventually) to take advantage of that market demographic.

I think a similar thing is happening here since almost all of these tents are made in China, and the average Chinese person's height is small. That's just my take on it. I am not being racist, just objectively factual.

Haha. I’d be more worried about coming off culturally or racially insensitive calling people hobbits than Chinese. No sweat though, this is a safe space. It’s just you, me and a few thousand of our closest internet friends. 😁

Yeah, I am just joking around. If people can't take a joke then I'm not going to sweat it. Just ad'em to the list of people that don't like me, I guess... 🤷🏽‍♂️ It's a long list, I think, so they can get to the back of the line and wait their turn... 🫤

I feel the same way. Anyway, for non-wizards with small children and/or a dog, a big tent is kind of important too.

Exactly. Big/Long tents don't just fulfill the tall wizard's demographic, but lots of other demographics too...

Yea it works! You’ll just need a rear window for your open rack. Btw we’ll have a new rear window coming soon with slam latches too!

The pictures he has posted don’t look that elevated above the roof line. Maybe some of that height is between the side panels?
do most of you that already own rooftop tents generally take them off when you’re not exploring and driving around in the city?
