I sped-read through this thread so forgive me if I missed it but is there any reason not to believe that the missing part is not the same PCS fix that FS owners are also waiting for? It would make sense that Tesla would not want to put more vehicles out that are guaranteed to fail within 2 years.

It is possible, but as you can see, they did not disclose officially why there is a hold and what it relates to beside full battery replacement or windshield fluid line stuck

I'm in the same situation as you. Last Friday 5/29 that said that they are waiting on a part to arrive. Checked in today and they said "the part is still on the way. Sigh...

Was supposed to pick it up the first week of May, was due to battery replacement is what I was told.

Mine was also scheduled for delivery early May (5/09) and I picked it up this week. I was told on 5/11 by a service center tech that my ticket in their computer(his words) was stating the containment hold was due to a VSH splay issue. He said that likely meant a bad connector or communication cable from the battery.

After that call, no explanation or diagnosis was ever offered. The response was always that a part was pending but no specific part was ever named. Then 3 weeks later, during delivery, no mention of a VSH or battery or anything similar. All very secretive.

I don’t even care anymore what it was/is apart from curiosity. That was a proxy for what’s really just basic expectation management anyway (break/fix/eta?).

Tesla were already biting off a lot with extra models (yyy, cybercab, SAWD) then this happened in the midst, maybe related.

What will be interesting a year from now is whether “fixed after production” will be any different (better or worse) than “built after line/part updates”. I think I’d actually prefer a repaired truck but only time will tell.
