That's cool! The height requirements is easy to determine. Measure the height of the truck at the "Very High" suspension level and add the extra height of the Urander bed rack (4") plus the height of anything you plan to install on top of the bed rack (e.g., rooftop tent, solar panels, etc)...
For a better sun exposure angle I can hang the portable solar panel from the side of the truck (clipped to the molle bedrack) and prop it up to the desired angle.
With 9.7 kWh of auxiliary battery storage in my Cybertruck including two EcoFlow Delta Pros (3.6 kWh each) and my DIY solar system (2.5 kWh), I'm able to extend off road range by as much as 20 miles. But recharging these batteries once depleted took far too long from one 420W REC Pure Alpha 2...
Here's another shot of the dual Delta Pros installed and operating in the rear seat area of the cabin.
As mentioned earlier, the Delta Pros are normally kept fully charged from a 750W DC input from my 420W solar system which has its own 2.5 kWh 24V LFP battery. As long as the solar battery's...
I weighed my truck at a landscape supply business at no cost. As to how much pressure? I don't have any formula. Just don't exceed the maximum cold tire pressure specified by the manufacturer. Also, watch for uneven tire wear. Too much pressure for a given vehicle weight will tend to wear...
That's true, and one can compensate for the extra weight by increasing tire pressure. On my Alaska overland trip, I filled my OEM tires to 60 psi (cold). The truck weighed in a 8400 lbs gross. Any loss in range was minimal.
There's irrational range anxiety and there's rational concern about having enough range when off-roading in the southwest deserts miles from any charging station. Range loss is a fact of life with a bed rack, rooftop tent, solar panel, and camping gear for days-long, off-road/overland travel...
They don't sound any louder than the OEM A/T tires that I replaced which is something I sought in making my choice. My spare is a BFG K02. The Dueler tread looks like it will have similar traction off road and in snow.
The panel is REC 420W Alpha Pure 2 measuring 73.4 x 40.9 x 1.2 in. I mounted it on Inspired Overland's Carbon Fiber Crossbar Kit which comes with stronger gas struts to handle the weight of the panel (47.8 lbs).
I was seriously considering it, and nearly pulled the trigger. In the end, for about the same price at the time, I chose the 7.2 kWh and 7.2 kW AC output that two Delta Pros and Double Voltage Hub gave me versus 4.0 kWh and 4 kW AC output from a single Pro 3. Adding a second battery to the Pro...
This is a long post, so to make a long story short, I have decided to replace my dual fuel generator with a large capacity power station to achieve range extension for off-road travel. I’ve chosen to install two EcoFlow Delta Pro power stations with a combined 7200 watts of charging power for a...
