The issue with the CT could be power delivery and control since it is not going to have the type of differential you can put in an FJ.
All I know is we've seen a lot of guerrilla marketing style posts about the CT being off-road tested and most of it consists of it tooling around places you...
If the price is $75,000 for the first year I expect less than 25% of orders to complete.
Very possibly they will just start asking for non refundable deposits in large order blocks and just skipping the ones that aren't willing to put a few thousand dollars down on a truck they will get in 6-12...
There's a silver lining to the possible much higher price of CT.
Lots of people who have reservations and can't stomach the higher price along with high interest rates will end up dropping out and those with cash will possibly get their truck much faster than they might expect.
Towing/hauling is not a niche use case, at least where I am, but I agree it's only a minority of owners who do it.
As long as there is a 50% range penalty when towing a box (toy hauler, boat, etc.) people are going to be outraged about it.
I have many many neighbors that tow small trailers...
He has repeatedly commented that they have to get the price down, which means there's a very good chance it's going to be rather expensive for the first couple of years of production.
It was disappointing that Musk brushed off battery/range concerns as being a non issue when they will be a very real issue for anyone towing/hauling with their CT.
Good information in this.
Out of everything reported, the 240V outlet and hint that there might be a bi-directional power feature (delivered later maybe with a new HPWC & firmware?) would be a big deal since the truck becomes a whole home power back up system when it is plugged in.
I'm still...
How is the driver signaling that he's merging on the highway if the CT has no turn signal stalk? Is it being controlled with steering wheel buttons or is it simply "guessing" that he needs the signal? It seems like it went on before he had substantially entered the other lane.
Well, that's just one example of course. If you could completely disassociate from the task of driving and do work on your phone or tablet while the car took you to work or you could watch entertainment on the main screen while still being in the driver's seat people would buy it...
Any of...
I last used it about 9 months ago before the vehicle I had it on was sold. It was gen 2.5 hardware but I'm not sure that makes much of a difference.
It contributed zero to the resale value of the car I had it with and I did not purchase it on the Model Y that replaced it.
I mean, if someone really insists they have to be able to put their golf clubs or carry on bags in there then it will clearly be a problem.
A beefy backpack, laptop bag, small amount of groceries or takeout food other than pizza really shouldn't be any problem whatsoever.
I've had FSD and I did not consider it valuable beyond features like auto park and summon which I wish were available separate from the full FSD package.
Things that have happened while using the car in auto-drive:
1. Car getting confused about median changes and doing dangerous thing at...
The % of takers on FSD is going to continue to be small until it is bulletproof enough so you have a couple of drinks at the bar and have the vehicle safely and legally get you home.
Honestly seeing all the complaining gives me hope that my late reservation won't take three years to fill.
$80K price for the first couple of years of dual motor production plus all of the people who will back out for other reasons (bed size, six passengers, frunk space) is going to weed a lot...
keep in mind that Ford had the entire space taken by the engine to work with. Tesla prioritized making the vehicle short enough to fit in a standard garage for ease of charging.
I just registered to comment that I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion of what looks like very limited headroom for the rear seat.
The delivery drivers don't look very tall and it seems as though they would have very limited headroom in the 2nd row.
This has been my primary concern...
