FSD will get me there. Just not in an enjoyable or friendly way. Because of the "profile" algorithm, the lane choice, speed choice and driving behavior are linked, the therefore the car will always be wrong on 2 out of 3 things that I want. And I will always be annoyed because I do not have a...
Some people say the nav data comes form TomTom. I am not sure, but the nav control on my CT periodically sends me to locations without roads, "shortcuts" that are dirt and 10 miles longer, U-turns on freeways for mysterious routes, etc. I live in NV and think it might be bad location data, but...
I live in the desert. I keep sentry off, climate control off, and leave the windows cracked open. Put a sign on each door window that says "Smile, you are on camera."
Fantom drain is scary to me. I keep sentry off, climate control off, and leave the windows cracked open, since I live in the desert. The car does not seem very modern under these circumstances, but probably works for the programmers since their universe is between two coffee shops.
Still a total lack of chargers in central Nevda. Ely is open, and working. Tonopah is good, as is Hawthorne, but these 150 kw chargers work there way down to 50 kw as other users show up.
I put a home charger at a farmer's barn in dead-center Nevada, so I can cruise there, but that is 48 amps...
I have to report that phantom braking is back. I have had many serious incidents of this recently, and it very much is related to patches of new pavement on the highways. I drive a 100 miles straight stretch regularly, and the car decelerates 75 to 10 mph at the same places on the highway each...
Here is confirmation of the important dimensions, as measured on the rack:
Bolt hole for hinge is 1.0" from the end on both upper and lower swing arms.
Lower arm total length is 18.75"
Upper arm total length is 38.25"
Note that the upright 2x2 is welded on the outside of the upper arm, and is...
Yes, 12" trailer extension solid-steel type. It sticks out 9.5 inches beyond the hitch, and the lower cross bar (far side) is welded 5 inches beyond the hitch; the the extender sticks out 4" beyond this, so I can put my umbrella holder in there. This sets the tire 6" from the bumper, and the...
Nothing is bent or deformed. There is some slop when opened, due to the way the 2" tube sits inside the hitch (as all hitches do). I mentioned that I am working on a fix. So this rocks right with the tire in place, and rocks left when opened - all due to the slop I mentioned.
I concur. FSD works fine at slower speeds, but runs off the road repeatedly at 70+. Typically I run into the shoulder on the right, or over the center line into oncoming traffic on the left. This probably happens once every 5 miles. I have done all the reset things, recalibrations, etc. The car...
Thank you for the compliments. I am an amateur, and was thinking of strength when I built this. I drive on rough roads a lot. I do not have a rattle arrestor, but would like to add one - not for the rattles, because there are none, based on the 500 miles of driving so far (maybe 100 on dirt with...
I have been perplexed how to carry a spare, so I built this. The criteria are to be strong, off-center so the camera works, low wind resistance, able to swing wide to use the tailgate, and easy to attach the tire without a heave-ho-hold-the-tire while you bolt it down. I used 2x2" square tube...
Today we figured out how to bolt two diesel fuel tanks to one pallet, and get it to all fit in the back of the CT with the tailgate closed. The 135 gallon capacity means we only have to reload every third day. We run camp from this fuel with two generators, including a workshop and 5 trailers...
