Yes - I thought it was a ding from a stone - it wasn't until I got to the repair shop that we learned it wasn't on the outside, but solely on the inside. It didn't occur to me (or to the repairer) that it might be a glazing issue, or a flaw in the glass. Lesson learned.

I can't say that I've ever activated the antilock brakes - when it starts sliding a bit, I just back off the go pedal, and I leave a good margin of error. My truck doesn't make any odd sounds (except for me giggling like a child when I drive it).
