  1. Driving a Tesla roadtrip below freezing

I’ll bail on my CT if it can’t keep the cabin warm. I live in Wisconsin. We hit -20 a few times a year, and it’s quite cold. My crappy little Ford Fiesta ST and my Dodge Ram are both capable of keeping me comfortable on my 90 mile commute. If the CT can’t do it, I’m out.
  2. Maybe I shouldn't wait for the CT anymore.

It’s a weird world. I think the vast majority of us who are on this site are environmentally friendly, myself included. I just hate the Chicken Littles. I have zero tolerance for the drama queens
  3. Maybe I shouldn't wait for the CT anymore.

It was only meant to be factual, not helpful. When people get overly dramatic, it rarely helps them make their case. It usually has the opposite effect.
  4. Maybe I shouldn't wait for the CT anymore.

That’s… not true. At all. Every single one of us is currently living with today’s temperatures and CO2 levels.
  5. Cybertruck’s Yoke-Style Steering Wheel Revealed by Way of Model S and X Updated Interiors?!

This is the same company hit with a forced recall because the center console is dying. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that the rocket scientist isn’t always right.
  6. Robo Taxi Thoughts?

I think it’s the intangibles that will hold up FSD becoming legal anytime soon. I’ll use a simple example from last week. There was a nasty accident on the highway. The police had to route us the wrong way down a highway on ramp to get us off the highway. It was a mess using humans to sort it...
  7. Robo Taxi Thoughts?

I completely agree that the odds of being able to use the truck as a robo taxi anytime soon is extremely unlikely. It’s a shame. I love the idea of going out for a few drinks after work, letting the truck earn a few bucks to cover my bar tab while I’m out at happy hour, then letting it drive me...
  8. Cybertruck’s Yoke-Style Steering Wheel Revealed by Way of Model S and X Updated Interiors?!

Honestly, it’s been in use for years and is perfectly safe. No reason not to do it. It’s substantially cheaper as well. My only gripe is the dumb yoke. It’s not a big deal though. No production vehicle ever fits 100%.
  9. Cybertruck’s Yoke-Style Steering Wheel Revealed by Way of Model S and X Updated Interiors?!

I’m sure it probably is. If it blows people away, it’s just because they’re sheep. Both the airplane and marine industry have done drive by wire for years. If you’re blown away because a truck uses tech that’s available on your average center console fishing boat, you’re easily amused.
  10. Cybertruck’s Yoke-Style Steering Wheel Revealed by Way of Model S and X Updated Interiors?!

No, I’m in phase 4. That steering yoke has existed for longer than either of us has been alive. No, it isn’t any technological marvel. It’s a dopey attempt to stand out. I’m claiming phase four as.. 4) okay, I’ll admit that’s kind of stupid.
  11. Cybertruck’s Yoke-Style Steering Wheel Revealed by Way of Model S and X Updated Interiors?!

I’m with BigVBear on this one. I like the Cybertruck, but don’t worship at the church of Elon like many here. This is just stupid.
  12. stainless steel laser engraving

To answer the first question, I was testing the new toy at my desk and didn’t know one of my co-workers had flipped the key to switch it from target to live. It has a target mode that lets you make sure you’ve got the pattern aimed right where it uses a harmless, but easily visible frequency...
  13. Cybertruck’s Yoke-Style Steering Wheel Revealed by Way of Model S and X Updated Interiors?!

I’m sure it’ll be a great truck. That’s why I put a deposit on it. I just think the yoke is dopey.
  14. stainless steel laser engraving

I know it’s an old thread, but I just noticed it. This would be super easy to do. I’ve set up five laser marking heads so far on the end of five-axis robots, so doing the same on a simple two-axis (CNC) should be dead simple. I’ve even got one at home that was purpose built for marking stainless...
  15. Cybertruck’s Yoke-Style Steering Wheel Revealed by Way of Model S and X Updated Interiors?!

It’s one of those weird things that’ll be total non issue to some, and a perpetual nuisance to others. When I drive down the highway in my car, I hold the wheel in exactly the same way you’d hold that steering yoke. When I drive my truck, I hold the top of the wheel. It’s all about what’s most...
  16. Cybertruck’s Yoke-Style Steering Wheel Revealed by Way of Model S and X Updated Interiors?!

To be honest, it looks cool, but seems like it’ll be irritating on long drives. Not a big deal though.
  17. What is the likelihood that the first CT deliveries will be the Tri-CT with FSD option enabled?

Testing out all the assembly stations won’t have any impact on build order. That all gets done during a production validation build long before any customer vehicles get built. Designing all the automated systems on assembly lines is what I do, so I’ve been through many new product launches.
  18. Petition Elon for Dually

I’m just going to way in here despite the fact that half the people will hate me. You’re asking for an utterly impractical option. Basic math says the truck will be useless for long haul heavy loads. Quit asking for silly crap.
  19. Wire Eating Rats

Not a car, but this “little” punk did 150K worth of damage at work and caused headaches for a few months. I was furious the the company wouldn’t let me send him to a taxidermist so I could leave him out as a warning to others!
  20. Parking space neurosis

No argument there. I added an aftermarket rear view camera to my current truck because of a similar mindset. I was just saying that if people buying this truck are going to think that parking a big truck becomes a non-issue, they’re wrong.
