Jfc you're dense. It's not a complaint, I replied to somebody that said the race is on for the first "HD" EV truck by saying the Cybertruck's design would not be well suited and that Tesla would be better off making something along the lines of the design they showed in 2017 for that purpose. In...
We don't know what their 4680 cost is at the moment, there's a lot of equipment and start up related expenses to spread over not a lot of volume.
Unclear if that was the case. They said 4680 line #1 in Texas is being converted from V1 to V2 so presumably that was also supplying the now defunct...
GM does not make its own batteries. They're made by LG, which is a South Korean company, in the US. Lightning uses SK batteries, also a South Korean company and also made in the US.
All you need to do is look at the photo posted previously, that sail pillars would interfere with many 5th wheel trailers is self evident.
If only you’d have bothered reading you’d have known I was discussing an “HD” (i.e. 3/4+ ton) version of the Cybertruck.
?‍♂️
While largely immaterial to the 1/2 ton market, it would be naive to think fleet customers, who make up ~40% of Ford 'Super Duty' sales, would be willing to put up with those limitations, along with most retail buyers who need those capabilities.
The basis is readily apparent, sail pillars and 5th wheel towing don't mesh well together and a unibody does not allow for it to be sold in a chassis cab configuration. That's a significant portion of the 3/4+ ton market.
Sure, equally, you can't tell they are load bearing either. Which is why...
It's not being quoted as fact, it's a rough estimate derived from @JBee's surface area calculation which, if I'm not mistaken, was done on the basis of a 231.7" long truck. The context was an "HD" version of the Cybertruck, that would necessarily require a longer bed for it to make sense and...
Looking at the curb weight I’m not seeing much that points in the way of that being the case. It’s 9” shorter than a Lightning, has a smaller and structural battery pack, no heavy steel frame and yet clocks in at 6700 lbs vs. the ~6500 lbs of a Lightning ER. At this point methinks they’re mostly...
Imo they took it slightly too far. An extra 2" in rear legroom and instead of almost full size they would have been same as full size, all while remaining within the dimensions of a long bed Tacoma (226") and wheelbase of an F-150 (145") but with 4WS. Likewise an extra 1-2" in width, same as a...
An “HD” version of the Cybertruck doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, the 3/4+ ton segment is where the sails and unibody construction do become a real problem, and where you don’t want to be giving up ~500 lbs of payload to bulletproof ss panels either.
Tesla should go for what they teased back...
Frankly I don't see the point of displaying them 10 days before the event, period. Do it after the event.
Seems like the tonneau cover is putting pressure on the tailgate and pushing it out of alignment?
They are 'Plaid' motors, as in the same CF wrapped units. They're just calling it differently due to different gearing and higher hp output enabled by the larger battery pack.
They're not, just the lighting in the photo. Unfortunately because a sequential turn light would have been cool instead of the barfworthy design they went with.
