I too would like to know the reason for the buy back. I'm taking my truck in next week because it creaks and groans from everywhere. I'm embarrassed to take anyone for a ride in it now. It was an early AWD (May 2024). I would love a replacement....
I think most people here are looking for tires that will last a long time and are quiet. I HATE my winter tires, which are similar to the KO3, because of the noise. I also hope to get closer to 50k miles out of a set (I never launch my truck - I've had performance Model Ss since 2013 and I'm...
We were looking at Aliners for my son, but the daughter in law really wanted an inside shower. We ended up getting a 2023 Basecamp 20 with only 500 miles for $39,500. The dealer wanted $36k for the Aliner Evolution LG. The fact that they were similar in price was crazy.
The Aliner should be...
If someone in SLC has a standard Airstream with road tires, I would be willing to look into getting a rigid sheet for the front top of my deflector, and try the test again. Curious what it would look like with a 25-27 footer.... We can do the test together (I don't need to have the trailer...
Test Complete!!!! Big Thanks to Airstream of Utah for letting me do the test.
I did a 17 mile (total) out and back (4 times total) with cruise control set for 60 and 65. Temp around 50. Flag along the highway basically limp (very little wind). Climate control off to minimize any weather related...
Good news!
Repeat highway test after reinforcing all the load areas was a success. No breakage.
My Energy usage on a 10 mile out and back at 65 mph was 448 Wh/mi. Not too bad considering I was displacing that much air. My energy usage for the last 3,000 miles this summer, averaging 70-80 mph...
Whoah!!!! They make all sorts of connectors for square tubing! https://www.eztube.com/product-category/connectors/?srsltid=AfmBOorMslVBpjF2ImCbI8T2gxSg3nqa8jKZRbjySjtcz-iXHQOXAriY
I may take you up on your offer. We are flying out Sunday afternoon now, but I may be busy in the morning, so it would have to be end of next week. I haven't heard back from the people that rent the Bambi if I can rent it for a few hours. On Outdoorsy you have to rent it for at least 2 days, and...
So this morning I bit the bullet and took the roof panels off, and moved the transverse supports to vertical as well as the longitudinal ones for the panels. Thanks God I did, because even after having done that, the light 3/4X 1.5 inch pine pieces were flexing on the highway. My wife was...
At 4am I was trying to sleep, but thinking about my wind deflector. I need to make another run to Home Depot to get harder would for the 8 blocks attached to the truck to make sure that isn't a failure point. I also want to strengthen the supports running front to back under the plastic sheets...
Reading the aerodynamics article that was posted on the first page, I wish I could easily round the corners on the back of my wind deflector. Maybe if it works, I'll spend more time on improving it by adding vortex generators as well.
Construction is complete. This turned into a MUCH larger project than I originally intended for a simple aerodynamic test....
Tomorrow I will have my wife drive as I sit in the bed and we slowly speed up to make sure everything looks ok. Then I hope to rent an Airstream Friday or Saturday. My...
I don't know if the inability to use current from the plug while moving is a software limitation, or a hardware problem. If software, they probably did that so people wouldn't rip the plug out of the car/wall.
Thanks for your post. What range are you getting at 60mph? Did you put road tires on the Basecamp and get rid of the super knobby mud tires they come with?
I spent an entire day building this. Attached to the truck using the 8 crossbar mounting points. I can remove the eight screws and remove the entire structure with my wife on the other side. Or I can remove 4 more screws and remove the front section separately from the rear section. Will start...
