Sorry, I did see the word usually and I still thought it was inaccurate.
EDIT: On rereading your post, I see you aren't claiming that only the higher specs are sold first, just that they are normally initially available trims for delivery, not including the Model 3 launch. That would be sort of...
Tesla has not always offered the highest-profit / highest-spec models first.
For Model 3 they launched with the LR RWD, and AWD and Performance were not available for about 3/4ths of a year.
For Model Y, Performance and LR AWD both released at around the same time I believe.
I just want to...
I believe the below quote is the one you are referring to.
He says it is hard to make the cost affordable. He also says that they need to improve production cost efficiency.
You can interpret this a number of ways, one that this indicates it is going to cost a lot more (ie, they fail at the...
You are correct, his statement was making it affordable is hard. This has been interpreted by alot of people as meaning they are going to price it sky high, but Tesla has never stated that.
The quote I believe was from Twitter in March 2022.
Elon Musk is stating that it is not an easy task to...
Here is my current top 5 list. These are all things I consider improvements over my Model 3 LR RWD which it will replace.
No Exterior Paint - One of the things I do not like about my Model 3 is the soft paint. I really like the idea of a car without paint that gets damaged.
Higher ride Height...
That is not new. That has been around for a long time. It doesn't always get triggered though. I am not sure what triggers it, but I routinely run into it.
I think this depends totally on the price points. The R1T Max Pack is about $90k if I remember right. A 350k Cybertruck at $60k would be pretty good against a 400k R1T at $90k in my opinion. It really depends on pricing when it comes to range.
The 450 mile Silverado is their Work Truck (Fleet truck), starting at $80k before addons. I am not sure I consider that the base/lowest trim level for the Silverado. You can't even buy it if you aren't doing a fleet purchase.
My preferred build is the dual motor announcement version which had 300+ mile of range. I don't plan to do any long distance towing, so that is perfectly fine for me. Its about the same range as my 2018 LR RWD Model 3 has on it currently, and that works great for road trips. Having additional...
I think it depends on the specifics. Is that a $70k Tri-motor model at 350 miles of range? Or is it is a dual motor at 350 miles per range for $60k? Or something else?
350 miles does not match any of the announcement configurations, so its difficult to say what it could be or at what price...
I suspect it will be Sept or October. End of Q3 like the guidance they have previously given in earnings calls. I don't expect any pricing or details until that event occurs.
I think you are right. Which means it was either a dual-motor or a three-motor design. I doubt it would be a single-motor, they have only ever made RWD vehicles with one motor, so I would be beyond shocked at single-motor Front Wheel Drive truck being produced by them.
I have always had a suspicion that the mid-range might be the first produced due to battery constraints and wanting additional time to work on the higher end model.
The high end model requires more batteries and more motors, and they have more aggressive performance targets they want to hit...
All you should have to do is not complete it and "hold" your reservation/configuration until they start producing one that you are interested in. Historically this is how it has worked.
For example, for the Model 3, they produced the LR RWD Model 3 for the first 3/4ths of the year. Nothing else...
We most likely won't know release specs, options, and pricing until the first order configuration invites go out to actual customers. This will likely happen at some point after the delivery event.
They might also drop some information at the delivery event itself, though if they do it will...
I am going to quote a post I did from another thread about previous timelines.
In summary, for Model 3 we didn't really have specs/pricing confirmed until orders from real customers were actually placed/confirmed, which occurred several months after the delivery event.
For the Model Y, they...
The title and premise are there to get the click, and I think it is click baity. They do want you to read the article, if you dont click on it doesnt benefit them much.
I am not big on the premise of the article, but the article itself seems positive about the outlook of the cybertruck.
