Yes, that is normal when ordering a Tesla that isn't in inventory. Your vehicle still needs to be produced. Once you are assigned a VIN and your car is almost ready for delivery then they will have you complete additional steps.
Have you looked at inventory discounts on Model Y right now? In my area the discounts are pretty high. And with a Cybertruck reservation you get an additional $1k off if the order is done before the end of the year. I am not sure it makes sense to wait, especially since you can get that money...
It can. If you bought a Model Y this year though, like the OP is considering, you would qualify for a $7500 tax credit when you file your taxes for this tax year. If they wait until 2024 then they could just get it at the point of sale.
Also, there is a Gigafactory in Sparks right outside of Reno, and they have a like 10-12k employees there. I wouldn't be shocked if they delivered to the area around the Nevada Gigafactory.
Are you sure?
To be very clear, most people who are not business owners have their taxes withheld from their paychecks. Look on your payslips and you will see Federal Taxes being withheld. You are paying them throughout the year instead of as a lump sum when you file.
When you file taxes, you...
What state are you in? Your profile says Utah. If so, that is a reason why. I also have a very low reservation #, but I am in WA, so no invite for me.
Only CA and TX seem to be getting invites.
Honestly I think it is just as likely to be one of the following reasons:
a. They use a query to select who the invites go to and the Query sort order is not optimized for multiple orders and just selects the Descending Reservation # instead of Ascending.
b. Employees are doing this by hand and...
I have gotten a number of replies back here on the forums and on Reddit from those who received invites. I was trying to determine if what you selected for a Preorder mattered or not.
4x Tri-motor with FSD Preorders
3x Dual-motor with FSD Preorders
Everyone except for dLux (in Florida) are in...
I have a question to all of those who received an invite.
What PREORDER trim did you select? Dual Motor, Tri Motor, or RWD?
Did you have FSD on the order?
I want to see if that had an impact on the invites. Obviously being in California and Texas was a key part of it.
Thanks!
If money is not a problem, I would probably just get the Beast so you have the sports car like speed and whatever beast only settings like rock crawling they might have.
You likely don't need to change your reservation at all to go a dual motor. When you receive an invite email you will be able to choose from all currently produced options. Your pre-order select is not locking you into that as a choice.
The safest thing is likely to just leave your pre-order...
Yeah, it was dirty. My Model 3 one gets like that in bad weather and I have to wipe it off. If you clean it occasionally its fine. Road gunk just builds up when conditions are wet. Always have a rag on hand to wipe it down if it looks like that.
We are planning on doing a lot more then we currently do as our last kid just turned 18 and we are hoping to travel a lot more.
I drive a Model 3 right now, so I know what driving an EV long distance is like and I love how it works in a Tesla. Its great. I have never had a bad charging...
I 100% agree. I use the center screen display for all backing up of the vehicle on my Model 3 as well. The Model 3 has somewhat poor rear visibility if you just use the mirror due to how the body is shaped, its far better to use a rearview camera for reversing.
I DO use my rear mirror while...
I do this too when I get rental cars. I always realize it within a few seconds of leaving the car of course, but I have to get back in and turn it off and make sure I have the keys.
I am so used to just getting in and out of the car and using it without having to carry keys or hit a button to...
